It’s done
Firebird is finished. Typed in The End at 12:03 this morning. đ Came in at 55k or so…might be a little longer than that. I’ll be posting the last couple of installments this week or so. three people area reading it for me to make sure I didn’t make any glaring mistakes or screwed up the time line. but woo-hoo! It’s done. Now I’m going to work on a short story that I promised would be done by April and Tony’s story. The short story shouldn’t take too long, it’s only needs to be 10-15k and I’ve got 5k done already. It’s a shifter story (not a werewolf though). Undersatnding Forgiveness is the title.
Watched A Scanner Darkly last night. Not exactly sure about it. Really odd and not very coherent in my opinion. It was hard to take seriously with the cartoon-like look to it. Kept expecting them to burst out in song. đ
Have a great day today.
Wednesday Wondering

Winter Blues
Sorry no picture today. I should have one though..maybe it would warm me up. It’s below zero here and I’m tired of winter. It can go away any time now. Ugh!Congratulations to the Colts for winning the SuperBowl.
I’ll be chatting tonight at the Fallen Angel Reviews chatroom. Click here and it’ll take you to where you can sign in for the chat. The chat runs from 9-11 pm EST. Stephanie Vaughan, James Buchanan, Matthew Haldeman-Time and I will there, talking about our books and maye giving away a prize or two along the way.
Hope to see you there and have a great day. Stay warm!
The Guardian

We watched The Guardian last night. I’m not an Ashton Kutcher fan. I think he got this far on his looks, more than his acting ability. But he proved me wrong with this movie. He did a good job.
It was a typical Kevin Costner movie, imo. Wise, older role model…been there done that and got the emotional wounds to prove it. But it’s a role that works for him. So I’m not complaining.
There’s an interesting legend they mention at the beginning and the ending of the movie…giving me another idea for a story. Like I need any more ideas..lol. I’ve got enough ideas to last me at least until late next year.
We also watched Flyboys again, but since I’ve already posted about it here..I’m not going to mention it.
Well, it’s SuperBowl Sunday. So we’ll be heading out to watch the game with some friends. I’ll be taking my laptop because I really want to get Firebird done. That way I’ll have another book coming out soon. đ I’m being pretty confident that someone will contract it, huh?
Have a great Sunday. If you’re watching the game, have fun. If not, have fun as well.
Finished

Vlatko glared at Zalaigh. âWho are you that you can make promises binding all Mitcovians?â
Zalaigh stood and towered over him, but he refused to feel intimidated by the Mitcovian.
âIâm High Councilor, supreme ruler of Mitcov. Iâm also the Guardian of the Heart.â
âYou sure as hell arenât the person I stole the stone from.â Rueâs comment caused a smile to chase across Vlatkoâs face.
âIt seems the I.U.M.âs reach is long. They corrupted one of my closest companions. She took the Heart. I donât know where she was headed with it when you ran into her. Allaigh and his men caught up to her just minutes after the Heart changed hands.â
Allaigh touched Zalaighâs back. The security officerâs touch seemed to ease the High Councilor.
âWhat happens when we give you back the stone?â Vlakto eased over to block Rue with his body. He didnât think the Mitcovians were interested in killing or hurting them anymore, but he wasnât willing to stake Rueâs life on it.
âThe reuniting of the Heart and the medallion is a private thing. Allaigh will show you to a suite that will be yours for as long as you chose to stay. In the morning after we have rested, weâll meet and go in search of a cure for you.â Zalaighâs voice wavered and the High Councilor braced himself on the table.
The High Councilor was weakening. Vlatko didnât want to chance Zalaigh would get too sick to help him. He tugged the stone from his vest pocket. He started to hand it to Zalaigh.
The High Councilor shook his head. Nodding to Rue, Zalaigh said, âPlease, let the thief touch it one more time.â
Rueâs eyes widened, but he reached out with a hesitant hand. Vlatko encouraged him with a smile. If Zalaigh wanted Rue to touch it, Rue would.
A burst of light blinded Vlatko the second Rueâs fingers landed on the fire opal. He yanked the stone away when Rue started to fall. He tossed it towards Zalaigh before catching Rue in his arms.
After making sure Rue was okay, he checked to see Allaigh holding the High Councilor in his own embrace. The councilorâs hands cradled the Heart. Vlatko and Allaigh exchanged a glance. They understood each other. Their first priority was to their lovers.
âIâll send someone to escort you to your suite.â Allaigh stalked to the door, carrying Zalaigh.
âThank you and I hope the High Councilor is all right.â Vlatko sat down in a chair and grasped Rue to his chest. âWhat the hell happened?â
Rue pressed the hand that had touched the opal to Vlatkoâs chest. He gasped. It felt as if Rue was holding a burning ember to his skin, even through his clothes.
âAre you okay? Do we need to treat the burns?â He pried one of his own hands from Rueâs body to hold the injured hand to the light.
âNo. Aside from the heat, Iâm fine.â Rue reassured Vlatko.
Remarkably, the thief was telling the truth. Vlatkoâs close inspection of Rueâs hand showed no burns or blisters anywhere.
âWhat the fuck happened?â
Rue shrugged. âI donât know. I touched the gem and it was as if a wall of fire shot through me. It was the most intense heat Iâd ever felt, but I wasnât worried about burning up or anything.â Rue shook his head. âYouâll think Iâm crazy.â
My new laptop

Firebird- Part Forty-Two
First off, my website up and running..there are a few things we need to fix, but they’re just little stuff. So stop by and then come tell me what you think of it. www.tachase.comHe shifted again, trying to find a comfortable spot for his sore ass. Vlatko had found entertaining ways to keep his mind off the upcoming meeting. His hand touched the bite mark on his neck. Vlatkoâs mark. Letting the Mitcovians know Rue was taken. He glanced over his shoulder at Vlatko who leaned against the wall behind him. A faint smile graced Vlatkoâs face and a slight wink made Rue laugh.
Allaigh entered first. âHigh Councilor Zalaigh,â he announced.
Rue rose to his feet, keeping his hands by his sides. The High Councilor entered and Rue felt small. The Mitcovians towered over him and were even several inches taller than Vlatko. He bowed.
âMr. Thaday, only time will tell if it is a pleasure to meet you face-to-face.â Zalaigh held out an enormous hand.
Rue shook it and nodded. âThe juryâs still out on you, Sir.â
âPlease call me Zalaigh. High Councilor is only for when Iâm making planetary decisions.â Zalaigh gestured to Vlatko. âDo you have a name?â
âVlatko.â The assassin nodded, but didnât move from the wall.
âWhy that? The I.U.M. doesnât name their assassins. They merely assign numbers.â Zalaigh sat in a chair facing Rue.
Rue sat. He didnât know that Vlatko wasnât the manâs real name. Of course, Thaday wasnât his.
âIt had meaning to me.â The tone of Vlatkoâs voice said the topic was closed.
Zalaigh folded his hands in his lap and stared at Rue for a moment. âAllaigh says he saw the Councilorâs Heart in your partnerâs possession when he first contacted us. How are we to be sure itâs the same stone?â
Rue held his hand out and Vlatko dropped the fire opal on his palm. The instant the gem touched his skin, it flared, bathing them all in orange light. âIs this your gem?â
Zalaighâs hands were shaking as the Mitcovian reached for the opal. âI was afraid weâd never see it again.â
Rue closed his fingers around the Heart and handed it back to Vlatko. âSeeing will be all youâre doing until we talk to the scientist.â
Vlatko tucked the stone under the vest he wore, his dark eyes daring Allaigh to try and take it from him. Allaigh made a move towards Vlatko and Rue tensed.
âAllaigh, no. Heâs right. The scientist you seek is me.â Zalaigh hid his hands under the table.
âYou? Thatâs the reason why you couldnât come with us.â Rue frowned. He hated complications and this was a major one.
âYes. Before I became High Councilor, I worked as a research scientist. I was trying to invent or find new ways of protecting troops in the field. The liquid body armor was one of many experiments. I was still in the development phase of the armor when the I.U.M. offered my assistant a deal he couldnât refuse. His childâs life for my formula. He had no choice and I place no blame on him.â
Rue figured it had to some thing like that. Zalaigh didnât seem the type of guy whoâd invent some thing that would endanger the very people using it.
âDid you know about the formulaâs breakdown?â Vlatko asked.
Zalaigh nodded. âIn a way, yes. I knew there was a fault in the formula. I couldnât keep it stable. The atoms kept breaking down. I never imagined human blood would bind with it to stabilize it enough to keep the test subject alive for even a few minutes, much less forty years.â
Rue tapped the table with his hand. âDo we have a deal then, High Councilor? You swear to give us asylum and protection here on your planet and in return, weâll give you back your Heart.â
âWhatâs to stop us from just taking it right now?â Allaigh commented.
âMe.â Vlatko moved to stand next to Rue at the table.
Rueâs lover stared at the Mitcovian security officer with an âI dare youâ smirk on his face. His hand rested on his belt next to the grip of the handgun. His other hand hung relaxed at his side.
âEven you canât stop a unit of Mitcovian guards.â Allaighâs words acknowledged Vlatkoâs superior strength against one person.
âNo, but I can kill the High Councilor before any of you kill me.â
Allaigh growled, but Zalaigh touched the officerâs hand and shook his head.
âIâll give you something else if you swear.â Vlatko didnât relax, but his offer told Rue Vlatko wanted to take the deal.
âWhat are you offering?â Zalaighâs blue eyes studied Vlatko.
âIâm offering all the information I have on the I.U.M. It includes private internal memos sent between high-level commanders about some of my kills. I have enough shit to topple several planetary governments.â Vlatko squeezed Rueâs shoulder and smiled down at him.
âI swear on the Councilorâs Heart to give you shelter and aid until you die. We will protect you as if you were Mitcovians.â Zalaigh pressed his fist to his chest. âMy promise is law for every living Mitcovian.â
Question to Ponder…
Aliens have landed on earth. They meet a human and a dolphin. The aliens know that the earth is 78% water, who would they assume the planet was made for? đHad a good weekend. The website is almost ready to be launched. C ended up making some changes to it and tweaking it a little more last night. We’ll finish it up when we get home from work and then hopefully it’ll be up sometime later tonight. Woo-Hoo!
Got some more writing done. Not sure how much it’ll end up being since I didn’t actually type it in. đ
Well, I’ve got to get to work. Take care and have a good Monday.
