Archive for Soothe the Burn

1st day of November…all ready?

Where has this entire year gone? Wow…it seems like only yesterday I was talking about Soothe The Burn coming out in February. Now tomorrow will be the release of my print book, Tabloid Love, which has Tabloid Star and With This Ring in it. 🙂 Woo-hoo! My twelve print book.

Well, Embrace My Reflection is moving right along. I’ve hit the 21,000 mark in word count, which is great. I’m thinking I have three more chapters to write, giving me 32,000 words at the end of the story. We’ll see though. It might run longer or be a little shorter. I don’t mind. 🙂 But I’m hoping it’ll be done this week. I plan on finishing Destroying Belief after that. Once that one’s done, I’ll be working on Bound by Trust and some other stories. Have to go through my list and see which ones need to be in line after JT’s story.

I hope you all have a great day.

Duncan’s World available….

In case some of you didn’t get a message yesterday, Duncan’s World is available at Amber Allure now. It’s also on sale. Amber Allure has started a new thing where all that week’s books are discounted for the first week.

Also, Freaks in Love was the #1 best seller at Amber Allure for March…and Soothe the Burn hung on for the #10th spot in March as well. Thank you all so much for making those two books hit the list. 🙂

I finished one book that just needs to be cleaned up, then I’ll be subbing it to Liquid Silver. On to the next book on my list…that needs to be done by June 1st.

I hope you all had a great weekend and have a wonderful Monday.

Hunks Day

I love that cute little smirk, saying “He’s all mine. Aren’t you jealous?”…lol

Wow…thank you so much for voting on the blog story. Like I said I’ll keep the voting open until next Monday. Just in case there are people who haven’t been able to visit my blog all ready. I’ll tell you what…it’s turned into a close race. I thought, for a while there, one story was going to run away with it, but the other one’s caught up. 🙂 I love both stories, so whichever one gets chosen, I’ll be happy.

Hey, Amber Allure listed their top sellers for February….and because of all of you, Soothe the Burn hit the #1 spot. Woot! Thanks again, everyone. Also, a good friend of mine, Lynn Lorenz, hit the #3 spot with her awesome story, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I really recommend this book. It’s great. The characters are well-written and the story is just wonderful. As one reviewer already said, “It’s a hopeful book.”

I’m trying something new this month and, even though I’m only two days into it, I’m doing pretty good. I made up a calendar and blocked out days for stories. For example, on Mon-Wed-Fri, I’m working on Not Seeing is Believing (another blind vampire story but on the lighter side of things). On Tues-Thurs, I’m working on Bound by Trust (JT’s story). I’m leaving Sat-Sun open for my blog story and whatever else hits my fancy. I’m hoping this will keep me on track and help me focus a little better on stories that need to be finished sooner rather than later.

Well, I hope everyone has a great Wednesday. 🙂

Soothe the Burn available now….

Woo-hoo! Soothe the Burn is available in ebook form at Amber Allure. I enjoyed writing this one so I hope you all will enjoy reading it. I promised the blurb and an excerpt. Here you go:

Blurb:

Captain Alvix has a secret. One he’s managed to keep hidden for years until a stranger comes to his rescue and shakes up Alvix’s perfect world. Suddenly, Alvix finds himself doing things he never imagined he would and revealing his deepest secret to a man made of metal.

Lieutenant Cooper is the leader of an elite group of military men. Their loyalty to the Galactic Military led them to volunteer for an experiment that changed their skin into titanium flesh. On a desperate rescue mission, Cooper enlists the help of Alvix and, with that one action, changes their lives forever.

Can a man made of metal and a man struggling to control the fire inside his soul find common ground? Or will their love burn to ashes before they ever have a chance to discover it?

Excerpt:

“Hush, Alvix. It’s okay. It’s me, Cooper. You’re safe now. We’re off planet.”

Alvix squinted in the sudden flood of light. As the tears slowly disappeared and he could see again, he realized it really was Cooper kneeling next to the bed. He gasped and reached out, stopping inches away from the metal now covering all of Cooper’s face.

“You can touch.” Cooper gave him permission.

Pressing his fingertips to the cool smooth surface, he met Cooper’s silver eyes. “What does it feel like?”

Cooper shrugged, though there was no real change in his expression. “A little odd, like I’m wearing a mask. It’s flexible and everything. The scientists wanted to ensure we’d still be able to move and fight, no matter how metal we become.”

After pushing up onto his knees, Alvix cradled Cooper’s face with both hands. He moaned softly. He managed to detect concern in Cooper’s gaze.

“You don’t have to touch me. I’m sure you’d prefer not being touched by anyone at the moment.”

How could he explain that the cold chill of Cooper’s new skin soothed him in a deeper way than never being touched again would?

His lips burned as he remembered the ravishing kisses of the Tongassian king. Alvix whimpered and lurched forward, attacking Cooper’s mouth with his own. He only wanted to stop the fire that tried to escape from inside him.

Cooper’s breath danced over Alvix’s lips for a second before their lips met. Oh, God. Alvix’s brain went blank at the first silken drag of Cooper’s metal lips over his own heated human flesh. No words could express how much Alvix wanted to crawl over and smash his entire naked body against Cooper’s. Maybe it would douse the heat left under his skin from the fiery attention of his captor.

Icy strips ran down his sides and he realized they were Cooper’s hands only when the other man set him away. He whined in protest, wanting more of the satin smooth touch calming his jumpy nerves.

“No, Alvix. You just want me because I rescued you and now you’re safe.”

He narrowed his eyes and glared at Cooper. “I’m not that mental.”

Cooper raised a non-existent eyebrow in skeptical inquiry, and Alvix crossed his arms with an undignified snort.

“All right. Fine. I do have some issues after being some alien torch creature’s boy toy. Forgive me if I seem a little clingy to a person who isn’t going to flame my insides into a pile of ash while watching me squirm in agony for fun.”

Hope you enjoyed the excerpt, everyone. Have a great Sunday. 🙂

Almost the weekend…

Shoot..where did the morning go? I got to work and haven’t stopped since…except for right now, when I’m posting this…lol.

Let’s see…I have a book coming out this Sunday. Soothe the Burn, a sci-fi/futuristic about a man made of metal and a man made of fire. 🙂 I’ll post the blurb and an except on Sunday for everyone.

The dynamic team that makes up Jamie Craig is running a contest on their Live Journal for you to win a copy of Soothe the Burn. Drop in and leave a comment. They’ll draw a name on Sunday night and you’ll get a free a copy. This is something that they do to promote their publishers and it just so happens they picked my book to give away this week. 🙂

Also, I did an interview with Martha and she reviewed ND: Finding Love as well. Stop by her blog and check it out. Martha loved Finding Love

I just got word about another awesome review I received. This one from Holly at Whipped Cream Reviews. It’s for Tabloid Star and she gave me 5 cherries. Woo-hoo! I’m totally thrilled that she loved it.

oh, one more thing…and you’re thinking “Shut up all ready. I just want to stare at the eye candy.” lol. I have two guest bloggers coming up on Monday. Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon are going to be discussing their newest release, Seducing Stephen. A m/m regency available at Loose-Id with a marvelous cover by Anne Cain. 🙂

Hmmm…that’s all I can think about telling you today. I plan on writing as much as possible tomorrow, so I can spend most of the day on Sunday watching Super Bowl stuff. 🙂

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Go vote!

For a few moments I totally forgot what I wanted you to go vote for…lol. It’s a Monday for sure.

It’s time for the Second Annual Sammie Awards. Samhain has opened their polls for the readers to pick their favorite books of 2009. Stop on their front page here and click on their link. You get to choose best hero, herione, book and cover. Among other things. I hope you go and vote, even if you don’t vote for my stories…lol.

Edits are done for Fighting Dragons and Soothe the Burn. So I’ll have one more edit for StB, which will be for the print version. After that, I can go back to working on new stuff. Yay!

I hope you all have a great Monday.

Freakin’ Cold

Today would be a wonderful day to stay home, curl up under several blankets, and not leave the house for any reason…lol.

Last night, I wrote two love scenes for two different stories. I had two different points-of-view. One story is in 1st person. The other is in 3rd person. Two completely different plots, but I wrote them alternatingly (which isn’t a word, but I couldn’t think of the right one) I’d write a paragraph or two on one, then switch to the other. 🙂 We’ll see what it turns out like.

Have to do edits for Soothe the Burn this weekend and get those back. Yay!

Well, I hope you all are staying warm and have a great Friday.

The end of the week…

I don’t have anything new to talk about…lol. Kind of been a boring week. Just working and writing. Sad story of my life. 😀 And I plan on writing all weekend as well. Have to get closer to finishing a couple of these stories soon.

Oh, and Lynn, about not naming the next Sports book, Tight End…it was tempting, but Matt is a defensive player, so Tight End wouldn’t work. And I try not to do suggestive titles, though it was pointed out that Soothe the Burn could have two different meanings, depending on how you look at it. 😉

Enjoy the eye candy and have a great Friday. Keep safe and have fun over the weekend as well.

New Cover-Soothe the Burn

Here’s the awesome new cover for my Amber Allure release, Soothe the Burn. It’ll be out Feb. 7th. I think Trace did a marvelous job on it. 🙂

I’ll share the unedited blurb as well:

Now the question is can a man made of metal and a man struggling to control the fire inside find common ground? Or will their love burn to ashes before they ever have a chance to discover it?

What do you all think?

It snowed here last night and now we’re getting rain. Yay! So I’m heading into work late, but that’s okay. I got permission…lol. I hope you all are safe and warm wherever you are.

Happy Hunk Day

Well, it’s the last day of the work week for me. Woot! Can’t wait until it’s over then I have a four day weekend. I’m not going to want to come back to work next week. 🙂

Some good news. Dracul’s Blood, the book I wrote with Carol Lynne, was contracted by Total e-Bound and is scheduled for a June release. (Of course, like every release date, it’s subject to change..lol) Also, Understanding the Past has been contracted by Aspen Mountain Press. I don’t have a date on that one yet. One more….Soothe the Burn (a sci-fi/futuristic story) has been contracted by Amber Allure for a February release. That’s four books coming out so far next year. Since Fighting Dragons will be out next year as well.

I haven’t heard anything about His Heart’s Home from Liquid Silver, but that’s all right. I didn’t expect to hear back from them yet.

I’m working on a couple stories right now…like always. I can’t write just one. 🙂 Also, I plan on revamping my website over the weekend. I’m hoping to get most of it set up, but it might be down for a day or two while I fine tune everything.

I hope you all have a great Wednesday…and a safe trip if you’re traveling today.
