Embraced in Gold Cover

This is the cover for the print version of Embrace My Reflection and Bring Him Gold. Isn’t it so pretty? It will be out some time in March.

Also, Bring Him Gold came out yesterday for those of you who haven’t heard. šŸ™‚ A happy Valentine’s Day story giving us a glimpse into what’s happening with Ronnie and Lucius. Click here to check it out.

I have three sets of edits to do this week, so the next installment of They Walk Among Us might not be available until Wednesday. I really want to get all the edits out of the way, so I can focus on finishing From Slavery to Freedom, work on The Deepest Cut, and two other stories I’d really like to get started and finished asap as well. šŸ™‚ It’s a tall order, but Slavery, DC, and one of the other stories are all halfway done, it’s simply a matter of filling in spots or writing the last few chapters. Only From Yesterday will be started from scratch. We’ll have to see. The new one I added to my schedule needs to be in by the beginning of May, so I might move it to work on in March along with Tramps.

Well, I guess I better get to editing. Yay! I hope you all have a great Monday. šŸ™‚

First Week Gone…

The first full week of February is pretty much over with, and wow…I’m thinking this entire year is going to fly by. Of course, I just keep my head down and write, so I tend to lose track of the days…lol.

But at least my writing is going well. I got another 5k done yesterday, and I’m over halfway done with From Slavery to Freedom. I’m going to slowly start wrapping it up. I’m hoping it’ll be done by the middle of next week. If that happens, then I can finish up The Deepest Cut, and maybe even start working on the next two stories in line. šŸ˜€

I have an errand to run first thing this morning, then when it’s done, I’ll be coming home and writing the rest of the day. Woot! See how much I can get done.

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and an awesome weekend.

Happy Hunk Day

wow…it’s already the middle of the week. I’m thinking this year is going to fly by, and I’m not going to be able to keep up with things…lol.

Writing went very well yesterday. I ended up with over 8k, which is one of the largest one day word counts I’ve had in a long time. Well, just on one story. From Slavery to Freedom is moving along quite well. I’m at the halfway point already, and I think it might be a little longer than the word count I had planned. Which I’m sure my publisher won’t mind. I’m hoping they’ll put Out of Light into Darkness and From Slavery to Freedom in print form together. That would be great. šŸ˜€ But we’ll see.

I hope you all have a great day.

They Walk Among Us

They Walk Among Us copyright c. 2012 T.A. Chase

Part Thirty-Four:

ā€œI’m not sure what my answer should be.ā€ Zach held me, but I could hear the hesitation in his voice.

::Don’t say anything right now. When the time comes for the choice to be made, then you can say something. We don’t even know if my mission will be successful.::

ā€œDo you even know what the jewel looks like? Or where it might be kept in the facility?ā€

I shook my head. ::No. I’m not worried about not knowing what it looks like. I’ll know it when I’m near it or see it for that matter. I’m hardwired to recognize it, since I’m the only one who can use it.::

Zach turned me around, and he studied me. ā€œWhy do I get the feeling you’re more than just some random Opalite who got chosen for this particular mission?ā€

I didn’t want to tell him, or reveal the connection we have beyond being lovers and friends. He’d freak out, and I didn’t want him to feel guilty for what wasn’t his fault in the first place. Yet I knew I couldn’t keep it hidden for much longer. Might as well get it out, so Zach could deal with it before we left for the government facility.

I took his hands and led him over to the bed where I sat and tugged him down next to me. I played with his fingers for a minute while I tried to decide the best way to spill it.

ā€œJust tell me, Raven. Something’s telling me I might not like what you have to say,ā€ Zach ordered.

I took a deep breath and straightened my shoulders. ::Your father is a hero to the humans because he sacrificed himself to kill the leaders of the Opalites.::

ā€œYes.ā€ Zach eyed me suspiciously.

::He assassinated them. He became their friend, and then he snuck into their room one night and killed them.::

ā€œI know that. Everyone claimed he was a hero, but I never really thought that. Seemed like cheating to me.ā€ Zach shrugged. ā€œI don’t see what that has to do with you.ā€

::The Opalite leaders he killed were my parents. They knew what was going to happen, so they sent my sister and me away, hoping that would keep us safe.::

Zach jumped to his feet and paced, hands clenched at his side. I watched and waited. Maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as I thought. Maybe he’d understand that I didn’t blame him for anything his father did.

ā€œI’m sorry he did that to your parents, but how were the humans to know the Opalites came with good intentions?ā€ Zach glanced at me over his shoulder. ā€œHe thought he was defending himself and his family.ā€

I nodded. ::I know, and believe me, it took me several years to finally accept the truth. I don’t know what my parents’ entire mission to Earth was. I only know what they told me before they sent me away. I’ve come to realize there’s not such thing as pure intentions.ā€

He frowned at me. ā€œWhat are you talking about?ā€

::When I was younger, I wanted to get revenge on the humans who killed my parents and all of my people. It didn’t seem right they got away with it, while the children had to hide out in a truly alien world. We had to learn how to be like you and fit in.::

I stood, and moved away from him, staring at the opposite wall. I wrapped my arms around my waist, trying to keep warm.

::It seemed so wrong when all my parents had wanted to do was simply open communications with humans, and yet you killed them without listening. But then as I got older, I began to wonder if there was to our journey than simply coming here to strike up an alliance or whatever.::

ā€œDid you ever find out?ā€ Zach strolled closer to me.

::No. There aren’t any Opalites old enough to remember what our true purpose for being here was. Yet I’m open-minded enough to entertain the idea the older Opalites might have had alternative reasons for coming here. Maybe they were like the Pilgrims fleeing religious persecution or maybe someone had invaded their home, and they were running from them.::

ā€œIf that’s true, why are you in such a hurry to find this jewel and go back to whatever planet you came from? Wouldn’t you rather stay here?ā€ Zach touched my arm.

I snorted silently. ::Stay here and risk getting captured by the government. To risk being taken to some secret lab where they’ll spend the rest of my long life doing experiments on me.::

Zach chuckled weakly. ā€œYou’re right. It might not be the best idea, but how do you know the agents would be able to find you? You all have done a marvelous job hiding out so far.ā€

::Not for much longer. We older Opalites are reaching maturity, and when that happens, we’ll no longer be able to hide our wings and that’s just the beginning. Our powers will begin manifesting as well. I don’t want to be here when that happens, because they’d never let me go, and the tortures they could come up with would drive me crazy.::

ā€œWhat powers? And are you the oldest of the refugees? If not, you all must be close to the same age, because I haven’t heard any rumors about Opalites showing up, or even stranger, winged people appearing places.ā€ Zach ran his hand over my back, lingering on the bumps where my wings hid under my skin.

I sighed, the warmth of his touch easing the constant ache of my body from fighting the need to spread my wings. I couldn’t do it anywhere other humans might see me.

::I am the oldest, and so far I’ve been able to control my need to stretch my wings. The only time I’ve used my powers were when I took care of Gideon.:: I shuddered. ::I don’t really want to see that side of me again.::

Monday is here…

So a new week is here, and I’m trying decide if I want to sit at my desk and write, or curl up in my recliner in the living room with my laptop. Guess it really doesn’t matter..as long as I write. šŸ˜€

It looks like my two YA stories will be out in May and June. Yay! Pursing Hope, my first f/f YA, will be coming out in May, and The Deepest Cut will be out in June. When I get exact dates, I’ll let everyone know, and also the dates are always subject to change…lol. Ā I’m at 41k for DC, and it’ll be over 60k when I finish, which is nice. I think it needs to be that long to tell Charlie’s story. He’s got some issues, but he makes it through and gets a boyfriend in the end.

The adult story I’m working on, From Slavery to Freedom, is the sequel to Out of Light into Darkness, and is about Malachai, Andor’s demon bodyguard. I hope you all like it. It’s a little hard in the beginning because Doll, Malachai’s love interest, is in a very bad place. But Malachai, Andor and Sven help save him. I’ll let you know more about it when I get closer to being done with it.

Well, I better get to writing. I hope you have a great day.

Story will be up tomorrow

Sorry. I got caught up in working on my newest story, and trying to get my other short story finished. I didn’t have time to write the next installment of They Walk Among Us, but I’ll do it today. There’ll be one tomorrow, I promise. šŸ™‚

Writing went well yesterday. Got a good start on From Slavery to Freedom, and added another 1k to my short story, which now means I need another 5k before I can consider it long enough…lol.

I hope you all have a great day.

Holy February…

I can’t believe January is already gone. Seems like I was just figuring out my New Year’s resolutions. (which I didn’t actually make because I never keep them..lol)

But looking back over the last month, it was a good one. I finished two stories. To be honest, one doesn’t really count because I wrote most of it the last week of December, and subbed it on the second of January. Pursuing Hope was my first try at a f/f story, and it’s a Young Adult one as well. I sent it off to my editor at Featherweight Publishing, and yesterday, they let me know they wanted it. Yay! It’s not very angsty or anything like that. It’s about a girl looking for a date to prom. She just happens to be a lesbian.

I sent my edits in for Famine, so it’ll be out on the 20th of this month. Also, Bring Him Gold will be out on the 12th. I have two print books coming out this month as well. War and The Longest Stride will be available at some point this month. Woot!

Gypsies went off to my editor at Total e-Bound, and I started working on a short story for them as well. I’ll still be working on it because it’s like halfway done, but I need to start From Slavery to Freedom, the sequel to Out of Light into Darkness today. So for a little while, I’ll be working on three books, until I get the really short story done. šŸ˜€

Well, at the end of this month, I’ll also have some big news. Nothing bad, so don’t worry about that. Just a few changes happening. All of it will be good (at least I hope you’ll think so.)

Have a great day, everyone.

January is almost over…

What the hell happened to this month? Where did it go, and how did it go by so fast? Ā lol Well, at least we get an extra day in February, right?

I’m working on a short story at the moment. I got 3k typed in last night. I probably have another 5k or so written out in long hand I have to transcribe. The story itself only has to be 10-15k, so I’ll definitely hit the word count. I’m hoping to get it done tomorrow. I want to cross it off my list, so I can start my next story. No rest for the wicked, I guess. Actually, I have a couple trips planned through out the year, and I’d like to be ahead on my writing schedule, so if I end up taking some time off during those vacations, I won’t have to panic. We’ll see how well it works out.

Well, I hope you all have a marvelous Monday.

Busy weekend

Well, I’m hoping to finish up the additional stuff I had to add to an older story to make it long enough to go into print. If I do, then I’ll go back to working on The Deepest Cut. I have until the end of the month to wrap this older story up. Once Feb. 1st comes around, I have to start on the sequel to Out of Light into Darkness and another short story. šŸ™‚

I’m having lunch tomorrow with some friends, but I do plan on doing as much writing over the weekend as I can.

Hope you have an awesome Friday, and great weekend, everyone.

New cover for Death

here’s the awesome cover for Death, the last of The Four Horsemen books. It comes out on April 16th. I love it…and I love the covers for all of these books. They fit each story with the colors and scenery.

I thought I’d share the blurb with you.

Death, the Pale Rider and the most feared member of the Four Horsemen, has been searching through the centuries for a soul to save him from his solitary life.

In the 1700s, Gatian Almasia was rich and a sought-after member of Parisian society. No one realised he’d lost his reason for living three years earlier. When his sister accuses another nobleman of raping her, Gatian does what any older brother would do. He challenges the man to a duel, and kills him. Later that night, the dead man’s family takes their revenge on Gatian.

Gatian’s death is just the beginning of the journey he must take as Death, the Pale Horseman of Apocalyptic fame. While he doesn’t regret taking the nobleman’s life, the guilt of not being there when his lover died builds a wall around his heart, and until he accepts forgiveness, he must always be Death.

Pierre Fortsecue is a spoiled rich young man whose heart is broken by the man he thinks he loves. Finding himself alone in Paris, Pierre sinks into a haze of heroin. He gets a tainted baggie of the drug, and almost dies from it. Death arrives to take his soul, and something about Pierre touches the Pale Horseman, who steals him away to help heal.

As Pierre heals and Death begins to feel again, they begin to wonder if love really is the only emotion needed to overcome desolation and destruction.

Hope you’re all looking forward to reading Death’s story as much as I am to have you read it.

Have a great day, everyone. šŸ™‚
