Some Wednesday Candy

Thought I’d give you some candy…lol..to get you through the rest of the week. 🙂

Sorry for the short post, but don’t have much new to report at the moment. Don’t worry though, writing is going well and I’m halfway done with one story…or at least I think it’s halfway. I’ll have to see by the end of the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Wishing for a Home.

Blurb:

Derek St. Martin is Nashville’s hottest country singer. For eight years, fame and fortune have come his way, but he’s not happy. In fact, he’s on the edge of a nervous breakdown or checking into a drug rehab center. Hiding his sexual preferences is driving him to resort to numbing the pain. When his step-brother suggests he should go on vacation, Derek jumps at the chance to relax and get his head on straight.

Max Furlo isn’t happy. His bosses were leaving him in charge of some singer while he had other more important things to take care of. Seeing Derek St. Martin for the first time hits Max hard and, suddenly, he’s considering a summer fling.

Both men know that a relationship can never be for them. Derek’s career wouldn’t handle the news and Max can’t live a lie. Yet when a summer fling becomes love, who will be willing to risk it all for a chance at forever?

Excerpt:

Derek studied him for a moment, his eyes running over Max’s body, stopping at the noticeable lump in Max’s jeans. A wicked gleam came in the singer’s eyes and Max stepped back.

“Don’t even think about it.”

He wasn’t fast enough. Derek pushed up on his knees and pressed his face to Max’s groin.

Groaning, Max buried his hands in Derek’s hair and arched his hips. Hot moist air penetrated his jeans and underwear, bathing his cock in sensations guaranteed to make him hard all day if he didn’t get that mouth wrapped around him at some point.

Derek broke his hold with ease and stood. “Sure. I’ll make pancakes.”

Gripping the man’s shoulder, Max jerked him to his chest. He covered that wicked mouth with his and kissed the singer until Derek melted against him, encircling his waist with his arms.
They broke apart when Max’s lungs screamed for oxygen. Derek stared at him in shocked surprise, lust burning in those green eyes.

“You’re a bit of a tease, aren’t you?” Max adjusted himself, trying to find room in his suddenly too tight jeans.

Derek shrugged. “You have to learn how to flirt. Drives the fans crazy. I‘d never tease you though. I‘ll always put out for you.”

Friday Candy

Sorry…I know I was going to post an excerpt and cover for Wishing for a Home, but I’m running a little late today. (which is par for the course the past couple of days….lol)

So I thought I’d give you some eye candy for Valentine’s Day instead. Enjoy and I hope you have a great weekend.

Digging out….

Okay…so we didn’t get as much snow as the people on the East Coast, but there was enough snow here to delay me getting into work. 🙂 Which I’m not complaining about, really.

I finished a new story yesterday. Be the Air for You is about a rock star and his best friend who is dealing with some life altering problems. It’ll be released at Amber Allure on May 9th. 🙂 Woo-hoo!

Oh and I got the cover for Wishing for a Home. It’s awesome. Check it out at SiN. I’ll post it on Friday along with another excerpt to whet everyone’s appetite for Derek and Max’s story.

I’m back to working on Out of Light into Darkness…a vampire story with a twist. I’m hoping I’ll get it done by the end of the month.

Hmmm…that’s all I can think of to update you about. I hope you all have a safe and warm Wednesday.

Guest Bloggers: Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon

Here are Bonnie and Summer. Please give them a great welcome.

We—that’s Summer Devon and Bonnie Dee—wish to give our heartfelt thanks to T.A. for opening his blog to us today. We have enjoyed collaborating on several m/m historicals, two of which are releasing at Loose Id this year. Summer is easy to write with. She completes me. We bounce ideas off each other and rarely argue. If either of us think the other one’s latest idea sucks ass, we aren’t afraid to say so. And it certainly is easier to plot your way through a book with two brains working on it instead of just one. First I’d like to give a blurb for each of our releases and then I’ll throw some questions at Summer.

Seducing Stephen: Stephen is visiting the home of a friend during holiday from university when his bed is invaded by a late arriving, drunken houseguest stumbling into the wrong bedroom. From this dubious beginning, a romance slowly develops.

At first Lord Peter Northrup is only interested in the young man as a lusty diversion. He tutors him in the ways of most homosexual liaisons of the time—brief, light, and always temporary. But after he leaves, breaking young Stephen’s heart, he can’t forget him.

Both men grow during their time apart and when they meet again, their affair flames hotter than ever. Is there any possibility for a real relationship between a peer of the realm and a middle-class young man with heavy responsibilities on his shoulders? Will Peter accept the possibility of true love in his shallow life, and will Stephen risk everything and trust a man who’s already hurt him once?

Wounded Heart: Lad from the streets meets lord of the manor. Both men’s lives will be changed forever.

When Sir Alan Watleigh goes searching for sex, he never imagines the street rat he brings home for one last bit of pleasure in his darkest hour will be the man who hauls him back from the edge of the grave. Despite his harsh life in the slums of London, Jem is a bright, cheerful young man. He’s also witty, irreverent, glib, and makes Alan laugh–a rare occasion since war time trauma and the death of his family have made the man a ghost of his former self.

A single night of meaningless sex turns into an offer of permanent employment. Jem acts as Alan’s valet, but offers him so much more than polished boots and starched cravats. Just as the men are adjusting to their new living arrangement, news about a former soldier under his command sends Sir Watleigh and Jem on the road to save a child in danger.

The journey brings them closer together as they travel from lust toward love. They rescue the girl from the clutches of an insane surgeon, who is as interested in experimenting on the vulnerable human spirit as he is on physical bodies. Alan realizes his love for Jem when he nearly loses him, but is Alan’s love strong enough to risk society discovering the truth about him? And is he strong enough to finally accept his sexual identity?

Bonnie: Which of the two stories, or characters in either of the stories resonated most with you?

Summer: Whichever story I’m writing is the one that resonates for me. I tend to fall in love with characters, write them and then forget all about them with the next batch of characters. It’s fun to be fickle.

Bonnie: I’ll fully admit that while I like Seducing Stephen and find earnest, tender-hearted Stephen and rakish, heart-guarded Peter interesting characters, I love, love, LOVE Jem from Wounded Heart. I’ve had a thing for the Artful Dodger archetype since I was young and Jem is just such a witty and fun character.

Summer, you’ve not written m/m romance before now. How was the experience for you?

Summer: Since I knew Bonnie could write hot m/m scenes, I wasn’t too scared. I figured I’d been able to write books featuring dragons and aliens as figures in romance, regular people would be easy. I love writing about relationships. That’s the part I enjoy most.

Bonnie: Exactly. Relationships are what it’s all about for me, too. I think the sex part flows naturally out of that.

When I approached you to write with me, I have to admit part of my agenda included knowing you were an experienced historical writer who enjoys delving into period detail. Can you tell a little about the two time periods in English history that Stephen and Wounded deal with?

Summer: I know a bit about the times of the Prince Regent and Victoria and their governments, I’ve read bios of them–and I’ve read about the Peninsular War. But what I love are the details. The habits and tools of the day-to-day life intrigues me most about any period in the past. I spend hours reading menus and descriptions of the furniture and who bows to whom during introductions.

Bonnie: I’ll attest to that. She was always sending me links to articles with details of oddities of daily life back then. I’ll look up the big picture stuff but I don’t spend the time on detail work that Summer does. She wallows in it.

What are the major themes contained in each of these stories?

Summer: Why do I feel like I’m back in high school with this question?

I tend to write about characters inhabiting a world in which they don’t quite fit. I think Bonnie does, too, and she does it beautifully. Finding love means you find that place where you belong, love and a real home. During the Regency and Victorian periods in history, homosexuality was taboo, and so for our characters, finding love has that extra layer of difficulty. Hey, forbidden love is always more interesting and intense.

Bonnie: Yeppers. Outsiders trying to fit in. My favorite theme across the board in all genres of love story. In Seducing Stephen there’s an element of duty versus pleasure. Peter has lived a butterfly life and is feeling jaded and empty. Stephen is squarely middle class and has a strong work ethic. He’s responsible and I think all those qualities draw Peter like a moth to a flame.

In Wounded Heart we have one hero who’s so war-damaged and lonely that he’s about reached the end of his will to live. Along comes lively, “glass half full” Jem and shakes him up like a snow globe. Lovely dichotomy!

Thanks again to T.A. for offering us space on his blog. We greatly appreciate this opportunity to promote our work.

Soothe the Burn available now….

Woo-hoo! Soothe the Burn is available in ebook form at Amber Allure. I enjoyed writing this one so I hope you all will enjoy reading it. I promised the blurb and an excerpt. Here you go:

Blurb:

Captain Alvix has a secret. One he’s managed to keep hidden for years until a stranger comes to his rescue and shakes up Alvix’s perfect world. Suddenly, Alvix finds himself doing things he never imagined he would and revealing his deepest secret to a man made of metal.

Lieutenant Cooper is the leader of an elite group of military men. Their loyalty to the Galactic Military led them to volunteer for an experiment that changed their skin into titanium flesh. On a desperate rescue mission, Cooper enlists the help of Alvix and, with that one action, changes their lives forever.

Can a man made of metal and a man struggling to control the fire inside his soul find common ground? Or will their love burn to ashes before they ever have a chance to discover it?

Excerpt:

“Hush, Alvix. It’s okay. It’s me, Cooper. You’re safe now. We’re off planet.”

Alvix squinted in the sudden flood of light. As the tears slowly disappeared and he could see again, he realized it really was Cooper kneeling next to the bed. He gasped and reached out, stopping inches away from the metal now covering all of Cooper’s face.

“You can touch.” Cooper gave him permission.

Pressing his fingertips to the cool smooth surface, he met Cooper’s silver eyes. “What does it feel like?”

Cooper shrugged, though there was no real change in his expression. “A little odd, like I’m wearing a mask. It’s flexible and everything. The scientists wanted to ensure we’d still be able to move and fight, no matter how metal we become.”

After pushing up onto his knees, Alvix cradled Cooper’s face with both hands. He moaned softly. He managed to detect concern in Cooper’s gaze.

“You don’t have to touch me. I’m sure you’d prefer not being touched by anyone at the moment.”

How could he explain that the cold chill of Cooper’s new skin soothed him in a deeper way than never being touched again would?

His lips burned as he remembered the ravishing kisses of the Tongassian king. Alvix whimpered and lurched forward, attacking Cooper’s mouth with his own. He only wanted to stop the fire that tried to escape from inside him.

Cooper’s breath danced over Alvix’s lips for a second before their lips met. Oh, God. Alvix’s brain went blank at the first silken drag of Cooper’s metal lips over his own heated human flesh. No words could express how much Alvix wanted to crawl over and smash his entire naked body against Cooper’s. Maybe it would douse the heat left under his skin from the fiery attention of his captor.

Icy strips ran down his sides and he realized they were Cooper’s hands only when the other man set him away. He whined in protest, wanting more of the satin smooth touch calming his jumpy nerves.

“No, Alvix. You just want me because I rescued you and now you’re safe.”

He narrowed his eyes and glared at Cooper. “I’m not that mental.”

Cooper raised a non-existent eyebrow in skeptical inquiry, and Alvix crossed his arms with an undignified snort.

“All right. Fine. I do have some issues after being some alien torch creature’s boy toy. Forgive me if I seem a little clingy to a person who isn’t going to flame my insides into a pile of ash while watching me squirm in agony for fun.”

Hope you enjoyed the excerpt, everyone. Have a great Sunday. 🙂

Almost the weekend…

Shoot..where did the morning go? I got to work and haven’t stopped since…except for right now, when I’m posting this…lol.

Let’s see…I have a book coming out this Sunday. Soothe the Burn, a sci-fi/futuristic about a man made of metal and a man made of fire. 🙂 I’ll post the blurb and an except on Sunday for everyone.

The dynamic team that makes up Jamie Craig is running a contest on their Live Journal for you to win a copy of Soothe the Burn. Drop in and leave a comment. They’ll draw a name on Sunday night and you’ll get a free a copy. This is something that they do to promote their publishers and it just so happens they picked my book to give away this week. 🙂

Also, I did an interview with Martha and she reviewed ND: Finding Love as well. Stop by her blog and check it out. Martha loved Finding Love

I just got word about another awesome review I received. This one from Holly at Whipped Cream Reviews. It’s for Tabloid Star and she gave me 5 cherries. Woo-hoo! I’m totally thrilled that she loved it.

oh, one more thing…and you’re thinking “Shut up all ready. I just want to stare at the eye candy.” lol. I have two guest bloggers coming up on Monday. Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon are going to be discussing their newest release, Seducing Stephen. A m/m regency available at Loose-Id with a marvelous cover by Anne Cain. 🙂

Hmmm…that’s all I can think about telling you today. I plan on writing as much as possible tomorrow, so I can spend most of the day on Sunday watching Super Bowl stuff. 🙂

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Meetings…

Jambrea might have shared with some of you that I’m stuck in meetings all day and haven’t had time to post the next installment of Bastet. I’m taking two minutes out to let you know that I’ll be posting it tomorrow. Sorry about that, everyone.

Hope you have a great Tuesday. 🙂

Go vote!

For a few moments I totally forgot what I wanted you to go vote for…lol. It’s a Monday for sure.

It’s time for the Second Annual Sammie Awards. Samhain has opened their polls for the readers to pick their favorite books of 2009. Stop on their front page here and click on their link. You get to choose best hero, herione, book and cover. Among other things. I hope you go and vote, even if you don’t vote for my stories…lol.

Edits are done for Fighting Dragons and Soothe the Burn. So I’ll have one more edit for StB, which will be for the print version. After that, I can go back to working on new stuff. Yay!

I hope you all have a great Monday.

Freakin’ Cold

Today would be a wonderful day to stay home, curl up under several blankets, and not leave the house for any reason…lol.

Last night, I wrote two love scenes for two different stories. I had two different points-of-view. One story is in 1st person. The other is in 3rd person. Two completely different plots, but I wrote them alternatingly (which isn’t a word, but I couldn’t think of the right one) I’d write a paragraph or two on one, then switch to the other. 🙂 We’ll see what it turns out like.

Have to do edits for Soothe the Burn this weekend and get those back. Yay!

Well, I hope you all are staying warm and have a great Friday.
