Reaching
Searching
Wanting
Wishing

Knowing I can never have you
Holding something back
A friendship with barriers
So much for unconditional love

Needing
Crying
Laughing
Hoping

Getting closer to you
Pulling away from you
A friendship with limitations
So much for unquestioning love

Doubting
Believing
Trusting
Deceiving

Supporting your dreams
Crushing my own
A friendship with an end
So much for ever-lasting love.

Home of his Own excerpt

Okay…so the picture doesn’t have anything to do with the story. lol. I just liked it. 🙂

But here’s the blurb for Tony’s story (which I might have posted before)

Tony Romanos is searching for a place to lay his hat and his heart. Traveling on the professional bull riding tour is tough on relationships. He’s never found a man he’s willing to settle down for, or even a home he’s able to call his own.

Brody MacCafferty owns a bodyguard company which has a few perks. Being in Hawaii and picking up a handsome cowboy for a hot one-night stand is one of them. Brody doesn’t expect to see the gorgeous man again.

Neither man can forget that night in Hawaii and fate steps in, connecting them together in ways deep and true. Can Brody convince Tony that Brody’s arms are the very home Tony’s been looking for?

Excerpt:

Later that night, Tony sat on the porch, staring off at the shadows of the Rockies. He took a drag on his cigarette. It still amazed him how much Les’ ranch felt like home to him.
The sound of the front door shutting made him look over his shoulder.

Les stood, doing a visual check of the paddocks and yard. When Les seemed satisfied everything was right in his world, he turned to pin Tony with a speculative stare.

“I brought you a beer.” Les handed him the bottle before settling in the chair beside him.
Twisting the cap off, he took a swig. “Thanks. Where’s Randy?”

“In bed. He’s taking off in the morning with Jackson for a show in Nevada.” Les rested his head on the back of the chair.

“Head hurt?” Tony knew Les’ injury seven years ago made the older man susceptible to headaches.

“No. Just tired. All the last minute stuff for the show and Randy’s dad has been causing problems again.” Les grimaced.

“In a fair world, that asshole would be run over by a semi and put out of our misery.” Tony shook his head.

“Thank god, life isn’t fair. I’d have never met Randy if his father hadn’t been a complete bastard.”

“I guess there’s an upside to everything.”

They laughed. Silence fell between them and Tony was comfortable with it. He’d never really felt that level of comfort before.

“So get good news in the letter?” Les’ question was deceptively casual.

Tony chuckled. “I should have known you’d get around to asking.”

“Be happy I waited until Randy went to bed. He’d badger you until you told us. I have more patience.” Les tilted his head and winked at him.

Tony stood, wandering over to lean on the porch railing. He pushed his hat back on his head and stared up at the night sky. “It’s not that I don’t want to tell you guys, but I needed time to work my mind around it.”

Les stayed quiet. Yet his presence gave Tony the courage to continue.

“I ran away from home when I was fifteen.”

“So young,” Les murmured.

“Maybe, but I didn’t feel like it. My parents gave all their attention to my sisters. They were the golden children.” For the most part, he’d gotten over the jealousy and anger. “I spent a lot of time on my own. Then I figured out I liked boys and I no longer existed in their eyes. They acted as if I’d seduce all the boys in the town.”

“Did you?” Laughter rang in Les’ voice.

Tony shot a smug grin at Les. “I’d have tried, but in the end it wasn’t worth trying to convince them being gay wasn’t an illness.”

“Don’t blame them. It’s hard to be different when there’s no one to support you.” Les shifted in his chair.

Tony put out his cigarette in the ashtray Margaret, Les’ housekeeper, kept out for him. He took another drink. Did he blame those boys for doing what society said was right? Not anymore. The only one he remembered was Luis, his first boyfriend and the scars from that relationship hadn’t faded.

“I don’t blame them. It was hard, especially in my neighborhood where everyone knew each other and being different was considered a sin.” He heard the bitterness in his words. “I couldn’t take it anymore. So at the end of the summer when I was fifteen, I left my parents a note and took off. Got odd jobs where no one asked my age. Survived until I hit eighteen and then joined the rodeo.”

Les’ hand gripped his shoulder and Tony let himself wish a little. Wish he’d met Les before Randy had. Wish he was a little less loyal and Les was a little less faithful. A hard squeeze and he accepted that fate knew what it was doing when it allowed Les and Randy to meet. Les had the easy-going nature to keep Randy’s temper from flying off the handle.

“Have you ever gone back?” Les’ honeyed drawl broke into Tony’s thoughts.

“No, not even when my youngest sister got married. Figured it wasn’t worth the drama. I keep in touch with my mother’s sister. Just enough so she knows how to find me. I sent her your address since you know my schedule and everything.”

“We won’t let you run off from here. Randy and I consider this your home.”

Les’ words touched Tony’s heart, but a small part of his heart knew he wouldn’t be happy until he found a love like his friends had.

Poetry Train…

You Hold My Heart

Helpless
Shaking
Nervous

Trying so hard to stay
Knowing
that the only choice
was to leave

You looked at me
with such love
I looked at you
with such fear

You held
Me in
Your hand.
You held
Me in
Your heart.
You held me
chained to the earth.

Packing
Crying
Running

Wanting to say
I love you
Knowing
I couldn’t.

You reach out
to me
I wrap my hand
Around the suitcase.

You held
Me in
Your hand.
You held
Me in
Your heart.
You held
Me chained
to the earth.

Flying
Dreaming
Needing

I wanted to
Scream
As the cab drove away
The reason why
I couldn’t stay.

You held
Me in
Your hand.
You held
Me in
Your heart.
You held
Me chained
To the earth.

Freedom
Loss
Needing
Wishing

I love you
But
I can’t live
Chained to
The earth.

How I feel today….

You might have to click on the picture to spot the bird in the tree. 🙂

Some days, this is how I feel about my writing. I have goals, but they seem so far out of reach as to be ridiculous. Other days, when I sit down to write, the goals I set for myself are right by my side and I overrun them, heading on to the next set.

Last night was one of those nights where I might have set my goals a little farther than I should have…lol. I didn’t get accomplished nearly what I wanted to do, though I did get some done. So it was good that writing occured.

I hope you all have a great day today.

Wednesday WiPs

Isn’t that such a beautiful sunset? 😉

Hmm…first Wednesday WiPs update of the year. Yet another holiday managed to curtail the writing, but that’s okay. It’s a new year and another new beginning (or blank page).

Here’s the word counts:

Dreaming of Dragons: 2,106/50,000 (0 words-but it does seem that I’ve found where I should start the story. Hopefully it’ll start rolling for me now.)

His Heart’s Home: 5,975/50,000 (again 0 words. That’s okay. I’m taking a little break from the third Home book. I’ll start up again when Derek starts singing to me.)

To Hell with the Devil: 11,365/30,000 (526 words. Arch-the hero-has really been pushing at me to finish his story. He seems to think it’s by far the most important one I have going.)

Where the Devil Dances: 27,142-finished (1,911 words and our adventures with Eric and David are finished for now. I have a plan for them though and as soon as I work it out, I’ll let you all know.

That gives me 2,437 words for the week. I’d give you the totals from December and the entire year of 2007, but that file happens to be at home. 🙂 So next Wednesday, I’ll give you those stimulating numbers.

Hope you all are having a great day.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, everyone. I hope you all had a safe and fun New Year’s Eve. I had a nice night. Friends came over and we hung out. 🙂

Wow…a brand new year and so much to look forward to. I’m sure it’ll be just as exciting as this past year was.

Got another nomination. This is for Three and is from Love Romances Cafe for Best Anthology of 2007. You have to be a member to vote, but voting opens today.

Love Romances Cafe
Here’s the link for that.

If you’re a member and feel so inclined, I’d appreciate the vote. Also, voting for the CAPAs opens tomorrow at The Romance Studio. Angel’s Evolution is up for Best Historical Erotic Romance.

CAPAs at The Romance Studio Here’s the link for that as well.

I know a lot of you are stopping by to see what new blog story I’ll be starting for you today. Well, I’ve decided to take a break from blog stories…just for the month. I need to focus on some of the stories I have started and really need to finish. Don’t worry. The blog story will be back in February. I hope you still keep checking in with me. I do plan on still posting stuff. Not sure what, but I’ll come up with something. 🙂

Thank you all for making my blog a daily stop for you. I hope you’ll continue to allow me and my stories into your life.

Poetry Train

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone. 🙂

Untitled

Only the foolish believe in the fairy tales of children.

The feeble minds of dreamers chase the dragons in the air.

Hopeful promises are accepted as the truth.

It is the strong that know that fairy tales don’t exist.

Those who have found the world a cold place to live.

The people who have forced the dreams from their minds.

They have listened to the voices that lie.

They have chosen to live in a bleak world.

A world without Unicorns and kings.

A place that doesn’t have magic or hope.

There are no Gods in their world to help with hurts.

Would you rather be feeble or strong?

Alone or surrounded by the gods of old?

Chasing Dragons or suffering death of the soul?

Wednesday WiPs

Wow…it’s been a while since I’ve posted my updates. lol. Of course, the last couple of weeks have been screwed up anyway. 🙂

Where the Devil Dances: 25,231/30,000 (2,504 words)

Dreaming of Dragons: 2,106/50,000 (413 words)

His Heart’s Home: 5,975/50,000 (0 words)

To Hell with the Devil: 10,839/30,000 (2,377 words)

That gives me a total of 5,294 words written on these four stories. Being sick really kicked my butt last week, so I didn’t lift a pen or did anything remotely like writing. 🙁 But that’s okay. I’m feeling a lot better and getting back into the swing of things. The next week will be busy, but I’ll squeeze in as much writing time as I can.

Hope you all have a great day.

Poetry Train…

One Day

One day at a time
Is how love is built
A single kiss
A simple look

You asked for nothing except
A single day
A moment out of time with
No expectations of more

Willingly I gave it
Never knowing a day
Would become a life
A foundation for love to grow

Two weeks together
Is how love is built
Ten kisses
Ten glances

Our worlds intertwined
Our roads merged
Love strengthened
Need blossomed

Songs were sung
Dances danced
Nights spent loving
Forging unbreakable bonds

Two lives living
Is how love is built
Kisses shared
Looks given.

Promises made.

Still Sick..

I’m still sick, but I thought I’d give you something pretty to look at..lol. I’ll try to get the next installment up tomorrow, ok? It’s been a long time since I’ve been this sick. Ugh! Sitting in a chair is difficult when all I want to do is curl up and sleep.

Have a great day and I’ll get the next bit down for tomorrow. And yes, we are getting close to the end of the story.
