This is a new story I’ve been working on a little at a time. It’s titled Nowhere Diner. š
The cool night air bit through my jacket, drawing goose bumps to the surface of my skin and causing shivers to dance down my spine. The icy breeze fit my emotions perfectly. Glancing around, I memorized the sight of the local diner where I’d spent so many nights, hanging with friends and jonesing on the crushes no one knew about. The different stores where I had worked for minimum wage and learned to be a responsible adult-my father’s words, not mine.
“Tim.”
Turning back, I met the broken gaze of my first love, Aaron. His dark eyes filled with tears and my resolve started to crumble. I couldn’t let him change my mind. There was a time when I would have given him anything he wanted, but no more.
“I can’t stay, Aaron.” I stepped back, gripping the handle of my duffle bag until my knuckles turned white.
“You could, but you just don’t want to.”
Aaron reached out and the halogen light at the bus stop glinted off the ring encircling his finger. I took another step away. No touching had been my rule since the day that piece of metal was placed on his hand. He knew how I felt about the whole thing, but still he tried to tempt me into losing what self-respect I had.
“There was a time when I planned on living in this town for the rest of my life.” I shrugged, looking down the road at the bus heading toward us. “But things change and you know why I can’t stay here anymore.”
Aaron’s flinch told me he understood my reason for leaving. “Things could be like they were before.”
Desperation colored his words and I shook my head, putting more distance between us. I had to remain strong. It wasn’t time for tears and I’d learned the hard way that crying wasn’t considered manly, so I blinked them back. I would wait until I was alone in a motel room far away from this town before I broke down.
“They can never be like they were, Aaron. You know that. She wasn’t married to you before and you loved me. Now she’s your wife and I refuse to be your dirty little secret. I can’t do it anymore. I need to be able to tell you I love you, but that ring silences me better than any gag could.”
“Tim, I had to marry her. My dad would have disowned me if I didn’t marry and she was willing.” Aaron clenched his hands into fists and shoved them in his pocket. It was a posture I’d seen him take so many times when he knew the choice he’d made was wrong.
“You married someone you didn’t want or love to make your father happy.”
My bitter laughter spilled from my lips into the night. If my heart had been whole, it would have broken all over again, but I didn’t have to worry about that. The moment Aaron had said ‘I do’, my life in my hometown was over. I couldn’t stay and not go to him at some point.
I had loved him all my life and for several years, it had been just us. Now there was a third person in our relationship and she didn’t know about me. I never wanted her to find out either. Hurting her never occurred to me. It wasn’t her fault Aaron was a coward and lied to everyone about his feelings for her. It wasn’t my fault either, but guilt weighed down my shoulders.
He started to say something and I held up my hand to stop him. I didn’t want to hear anything else from him. No matter what he said, my mind was made up. I was leaving because there wasn’t anything left for me in this town and the possibilities that arose down the road would keep me from dwelling on the past or so I hoped.
The bus stopped behind me, the air brakes hissing like a hundred snakes and when the driver reached for my bag, I gave it to him. I kept my backpack with me for it held all of my personal possessions and I wasn’t going to let it out of my sight.
“Good-bye.”

Also, I wanted to let you know that Death or Life will be released by Liquid Silver sometime in June. I don’t have an exact date yet, but I asked for June and they were very willing to schedule it then.
I have more good news coming. Nothing’s been finalized yet, but as soon as it is, you’ll be the first to know.

Woo-hoo! Garrett’s story is finally out. Or will be out soon, I’m sure…lol. As soon as it’s up on the front page at Samhain, I’ll post the link. š
Available now…http://www.mybookstoreandmore.com/shop/product.da/high-line
Here’s the blurb:
Will giving him the green flag lead to loveā¦or heartache?
The Love of Sports Series, Book 2
CJ Lamont is at the top of the racing world but his winning record is based on a carefully constructed lie. His world falls apart when his ex-wife reveals the truth. As he hits rock bottom, rescue comes from an unexpected sourceāGarrett Johnson, Hollywood’s hottest leading man.
Garrett’s acting career is taking off, bringing him accolades he’d never imagined. Good friends and family keep his days hopping, but watching his twin brother fall in love exposes the emptiness in Garrett’s life created by the betrayal of his ex-lover.
Garrett offers CJ a place to heal and a shoulder to lean on, telling himself it’s only to keep CJ from taking a more destructive path. But as time passes, the two men grow closer and CJ realizes he has a decision to makeāwhether to rebuild his fictitious life, or admit to loving a man who shines brighter than the Hollywood stars.
Will he reach for the star or sink back into his old life?
Warning: This title contains hot man love, sticky situations with honey, fast cars and faster men.
Excerpt:
āActually, how long are you staying in L.A.?ā Garrett led him back toward the room heād woken up in.
āDonāt know. I donāt really have anywhere to go.ā
Pain trickled in his heart. His home in Charlotte was besieged by reporters. Heād run to the opposite coast, looking for somewhere he could hide.
āWhy donāt I have my security guy, Quentin, go to your hotel, grab your stuff and you can stay here?ā Garrett stopped outside his room.
āWhat about you?ā He opened the door, confused.
āIām leaving in a few days and wonāt be around for a month or so.ā
CJ forced his body to stay in place while Garrett reached out to cup his cheek. His lips were stroked by a rough thumb. He licked Garretās skin, tasting salt and something spicy.
Garrett groaned and slid his hand into CJās hair, pulling him closer. CJ managed not to tense. God, he wanted to share another kiss with him.
Their lips brushed together with a gentleness heād never imagined two men could feel. It seemed like Garrett was trying not to make him nervous. Nerves werenāt his problem. Garrett was the only man heād ever kissed. Denying his urges made it hard to get any experience. He wrapped his arms around Garrettās waist, leaning against the actorās chest.
āOpen for me,ā Garrett ordered softly.
CJ opened his lips, allowing Garrettās tongue in. He shivered as Garrett teased the roof of his mouth. He moaned and rocked his erection against Garrettās thigh.
He protested as Garrett eased away from him. āPlease.ā
āGo to bed,ā Garrett murmured. āItās late.ā
āWait. Why save my ass from that guy and put me up in your house?ā He didnāt understand why Garrett would choose to do something for a guy heād met a year ago and never talked to since.
āAside from it being one of the finest asses Iāve seen, I donāt know. Probably guilt more than anything else. Someone very close to me slid down the path youāre taking. By the time I noticed, it was too late. If I can help someone else, maybe itāll atone for my negligence. Besides, remember what I told you the last time I saw you; if you needed anything, I would help you out. Well, Iām thinking you need a friend and Iām willing to be it.ā Garrett brushed a quick kiss over CJās cheek. āGoodnight.ā

Eyes
Dark eyes peering from behind a fringe of black hair, he meets my gaze with a grin. The tilt of his head and the movement of his hips entice me closer. I reach out, trailing my fingers over his shoulder and down his chest, ending at the waist of his jeans. Hooking my finger in a belt loop, I tug him closer. His arms settle around my waist and I nuzzle his neck, breathing in the salty scent of sweat and male. Our bodies rock and rub to the driving beat of the music filling the club we dance in. He sighs, leaning into me, and I know, Iāll be going home with him tonight.

One of my readers asked me about the music I listen to as I’m writing or even if I listen to music at all. The answer is yes and all kinds. I don’t usually have a specific playlist for each book. What I have are theme songs for them. One or two songs that I play that helps me capture the mood of the story or what I’m trying to say. Sometimes, the song might not seem to have anything to do with the story, but there is a line or two that fits. I thought I’d give you the songs that I’ve decided could be used as theme songs for each of my books (except for the anthology stories…lol)
Here we go:
No Going Home: “Lonely No More”- Rob Thomas
“Soft Place to Fall”- Chris LeDoux
Here Be Dragons: “The Storm”- Blackmore’s Night
“Just For”- Nickleback

“Waiting for You”- Blackmore’s Night
Stealing Life: “Freaks in Love”- Elton John
“Lie to Me”- Jonny Lang

“Better Man”- Elijah Black
Out of Bounds: “Let Me Fall”- Josh Groban
“Let Love In”- Goo Goo Dolls
Where the Devil Dances: “You Had Me From Hello”- Kenny Chesney
“Falling Slowly”- Glen Hansard
High Line: “I Don’t Want to Fall in Love”- Chris Issak
“Not Ready to Make Nice”- Dixie Chicks
Ghost of a Chance: “Bring Me to Life”- Evanescene
“This Time”- Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Faithā¦
Fingers twine with fingers
Lips brush over lips
Teeth tease and bite.
Skin rubs on skin
Body presses against body
Breath mingles and warms.
Arms locked with arms
Hips grind into hips
Essence blends with essences.
I have never seen you,
Yet I know you exist.
The conviction of my heart gives me faith.
I have never heard you,
Yet I know you love me.
The evidence is in your touch.
