Wednesday’s Work in Progress…
First off, Devon Rhodes and I have a new blog/site where you can stop by to find out news about our International Men of Sports series. Updates, covers, excerpts and maybe a contest or two along the way. Plus if we do any other co-authored works, we’ll be posting them there as well. 🙂 Here’s the link to it if you’d like to check it out.
Now the snippet I’m posting today is from London, Fallen Book 7. I know it’s a M/F book, but it’s what I’m working on at the moment…lol. This happens to be Mika’il’s book. He’s the archangel and the guy in charge of all the Enforcers (who are like good fallen angels) 🙂

Excerpt:
“Are you seriously threatening me?” He couldn’t believe what he was hearing coming from the true demon.
“Yes. You might kill me, but I don’t care. I will protect her with my life. It’s bad enough that creature comes around all the time. Now I’m going to have to deal with you as well. I haven’t ever done anything wrong in the thousands of years I’ve been on this earth. Why am I being tortured by angels?”
Russell snarled, but Mika’il wasn’t afraid of him. Why would he be since he was the strongest angel in heaven? He’d faced down Lucifer Daystar and stood firm when the fallen came to the gate to beg for forgiveness.
The only thing he’d ever been afraid of was disappointing God. No true demon would ever make him cower. He surged to his feet then took one step forward to brace his hands on the desk. He leant over to put his face right in Russell’s.
“Don’t you dare threaten me, demon. I’ve dealt with your kind from the moment of your creation. You don’t scare me. I can destroy you with a thought.” He growled.
To his surprise, Russell didn’t back down. In fact, he pushed to his feet and stood inches away from Mika’il. “I know you can, but I don’t care. I love that girl and she’s gone through hell all of her life. She doesn’t need you bothering her about why she’s painting you. Why can’t you just let it go?”
“I can’t let it go because she’s painting scenes of a part of my life where I lost the only thing that ever mattered more to me than God. How does she know these things? Who is she and how does she know me? Is she here tonight? I want to meet her.”
Russell blinked before slowly sinking back into his chair. “Oh my God.”
Mika’il felt his eye twitch at Russell’s use of God like that, but he let it go because he saw the shock in the demon’s face. “What’s so shocking about that? That I could fall in love with someone? That I could find joy in a mortal?”
“You’re him.”
“I’m who?” Now Russell wasn’t making sense.
“I really thought that he was the guy, but while he does come around a lot, he never seemed to look at her like you’d think a guy would look at the woman he loved, you know.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. You knew about me.”
Russell shook his head. “No. I knew about the man in the paintings. She sees him in her visions and dreams all the time. She doesn’t know why she sees him. Hell, she doesn’t understand why she has to paint all these scenes and things.” He pressed his hand to his mouth. “I’m not sure she’ll be able to handle meeting you. How do I tell her that she’s been dreaming of the most powerful archangel in heaven? I mean she tells me that she believes in heaven and hell. That angels and demons haunt the world she finds herself in at times. She even considers him an angel, even though I know he’s not even close to being one.”
“Who are you talking about?” Mika’il’s mind spun. Listening to Russell babble was going to drive him insane and he never thought that would happen. Especially after having to deal with Lucifer all the time.
“Umm…no one important.” Russell winced after he said it like whomever he had been talking about could hear him. “Just a friend of hers.”

Thanks. And I’ll definitely give you some suggestions on conventions on Friday. 🙂
awesome – cool piece… I checked out the new site – love it…
question for Friday (if you’re still doing that) – how do you find out about book conventions? is there a website or something like that?
