The Green Mile

I’ll admit I’ve never read the book, The Green Mile by Stephen King. And I refrained from seeing the movie for as long as possible because I knew it was going to be sad. Also, and this might get me in trouble with some people, but I just don’t particularly care for Tom Hanks as an actor.
But I ended up watching it last night and boy, it was a really good movie. All the actors were great…yes, even Hanks. Of course, I’m partial to David Morse…lol.
The way they filmed the movie made Michael Clark Duncan look enormous. I mean he’s a big guy, but in real life, he’s as tall as David Morse. The director happened to have directed one of my favorite movies of all times: Shawshank Redemption. Yep..another King story.
I hope you all have a great weekend. I’m looking forward to it. It’s suppose to be warm which I’m beginning to think is a myth…lol

The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption are both great movies. I do like Tom Hanks though, and I think he will be remebered, when we are all old and grey as one of the great actors of our time, just like Stephan King will be remebered as a great author (even though I am not a fan of his books). I know it was not popular in America, but we all enjoyed Tom Hanks role in Castaway over here. Have you ever seen it?
Morse definitely gives one of his finest performances ever in this film. I am a fan of Stephen King and they don’t do justice to his stories very often in film.
Apt Pupil is an excellent film based on a King short story. Ian McKellen is thoroughly chilling as a former Nazi. The late Brad Renfro mesmerizes as the kid who reawakens McKellen’s evil. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and although they don’t follow King exactly, I think the main core of the story is captured. It’s a dark, depressing film that really makes you think.
Just think of the cold weather as another excuse to snuggle with C, the cats,a great movie and hot buttered rum. On second thought, forget the cats and the movie-lol. Have a great weekend.
Good morning Ta,
I loved Shawshank Redemption but didn’t realize it was a King story. I think The Green Mile was on my to rent list but I lost the list and then forgot all the movies that were on it. Thanks for the reminder.
