Poetry Train

(a little baby faced, aren’t they? But they convey the emotion I was looking for. 🙂 )

Silent Tears

Silent tears trace paths down my cheeks.
My arms ache with the need to comfort you.
There’s pain in your smile.
Loneliness in your eyes.

Nothing I do will make it right.
I stand in the background and watch you struggle.
I know the truth
And understand the outcome.

You’ll move on without me.
The time has come for us to say good-bye.
At some point in the future, you’ll forget my face.
I’ll only be a bittersweet memory.

That’s all right with me.
I had you for a time.
I was your whole world
And you were mine.

I don’t regret any of it.
Relationships must end
All good things sometimes go bad
And simply fade away.

Lovely poem, TA, thanks for sharing it. 🙂

    Julia,

I think the pain is felt differently. When you’re young and break up, you feel like it’s the worse pain in the world and you’ll never be able to love again. Then two weeks later, you find the next love of your life.

When you’re older and you break up, it’s deeper and lasts longer because you know the rarity of that love..imo. 🙂

    Good question though.

They may be babyfaced, but we all had to start somewhere. Is it harder to break up when you’re young and thought each love would always last? Or is it harder when we’re older to let go and love the way we did, for fear of letting ourselves hurt?

    Susilien,

Thanks so much for your wonderful words. I hope you enjoy any of my books that you pick up. I’d love to hear from you again.

I loved your poem the best throughout the train, so you get my comment. There is true feeling in your poem. It is honest. Thank you for sharing it. I am going to go buy some of your books to celebrate.

  6. T.A.Chase says:

    It was sad, wasn’t it?

The poetry book is on the back burner for the moment. Until I can get some other books finished that have been driving me crazy. But I’m still planning on it.

    That was sad & beautiful

I love your poetry, when are you doing that book? 😉
