Poetry Train
Alone
I wander through crowds
Searching for a touch
Yearning for a voice
Someone to hear
To tell me I have a choice.
Alone is easy.
Lonely is hard.
Chasing a dream,
Knowing it isn’t
In the cards.
Dreaming of forever
Dealing with for now
Understanding freedom
Wishing to be bound.
I can be alone and love it.
I fear being lonely
With no one to cherish
To be no one’s one and only.
Alone is easy.
I wander through crowds
Searching for a touch
Yearning for a voice
Someone to hear
To tell me I have a choice.
Alone is easy.
Lonely is hard.
Chasing a dream,
Knowing it isn’t
In the cards.
Dreaming of forever
Dealing with for now
Understanding freedom
Wishing to be bound.
I can be alone and love it.
I fear being lonely
With no one to cherish
To be no one’s one and only.
Alone is easy.
Lonely is hard.
Chasing a dream,
Knowing it isn’t

I can so much relate to this one! I need my alone time, but hate being lonely!!
Beutiful poem, T.A. And so true.
Jenna,
sweetheart, how are you? I’m so happy you delurked. 🙂 Yeah..it’s sort of a sad song.
Oh, T.A., this made me cry it’s that beautiful.
Gee I gotta delurk more often!

Sorry to make you teary-eyed.
Though it’s hard this time of year, isn’t it?
Susan,
Thanks. I can almost see this as a song. 🙂
Well TA, you got me teary with this one. I am alone right now and while I have never had a problem being alone, I do hate being lonely. Especially this time of year, no one to hug and kiss under the tree lights. (Sigh)I am going to go get a kleenex right now.
That chorus, TA… gives me chills.
Gautami,
I’ve always felt being alone is a choice, so it’s not hard to deal with. Being lonely isn’t something people can help at times, so there’s a little more pain to deal with in that.
Thanks, Tempest. I’m glad you can hear it almost as a song…since it’s going to be included in my next Home book. 🙂 Derek St. Martin, one of the heroes, is a country singer and it’s one of the songs he writes. I’m going to try and have a song for each chapter. Have to see how well that works out.
Not bad so far. Three chapters and a prologue and I have a poem/song for each so far. 🙂
Yes, alone is easy. Lonely is hard. Much too hard.

Love it, TA! I can almost set to music in my head. 🙂
