Dang Computer….
Due to computer issues (at work…a dead hard drive…), I’ll be posting the next installment of The Vanguard a little later today. Sorry about this. Sometimes I think the computer gods hate me.Slight Delay

There will be a slight delay in the release of THREE, from what I’ve been told. Liquid Silver had a computer problem and they couldn’t publish this week’s books. So it looks like those two will be pubbed next Monday and ours will be pushed back a week…meaning it’ll be out June 18th. đ Sorry for the delay, everyone, but unfortunately these things happen.
Wrote some more on both The Vanguard and Home of his Own. Plus did some work on a couple other story ideas. My main focus remains Tony’s story. Want to get it finished by the end of June.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday. đ
The Vanguard
The Vanguard copyright (c) 2007 T.A. ChasePart Twenty-Five:
Stakel stopped, reluctant to knock on Antiocâs door. For the first time he could remember, he was worried someone might be angry with him. It was a strange feeling since heâd never cared before. His fellow Consorts loathed him and the feeling had been mutual.
âWhat are you waiting for?â Darius grumbled from where the page stood beside him. âThis tray isnât getting lighter.â
Stakel glared down at the page. âHow do you know theyâd even let me in? Iâm the reason Antioc received his whipping in the first place.â
Darius rolled his eyes and sighed. The boy kicked the door twice. âYouâre feeling guilty for something that wasnât your fault at all. Odd because you donât strike me as a martyr.â
Martin opened the door. A bright smile erupted on his troubled face.
âWho is it?â Antiocâs strained voice spoke of pain.
âStakel and Darius.â Martin stepped back, waving them in. âCome in. What did you bring us?â
âFood.â Darius set the tray down on the table by the window.
âI came to heal you, Antioc. You shouldnât have been disciplined. You didnât do anything.â Stakel went to the bed where the auburn-haired soldier lay on his stomach.
The curtains had been opened to allow the afternoon sun in. He closed his eyes, blocking the wounds from his sight.
âCan you really heal Antiocâs back?â Martin brushed past him to sit beside Antioc.
Youâve seen worse. The voice reminded him.
I know, but itâs never been someone I liked before this.
So youâve said. Could it be youâre learning what having friends is like?
Stakel wasnât sure if that was the issue or not. He just knew that he didnât like seeing Antioc hurt.
âSir, can you heal the sub-commander?â Darius poked him.
âYes, I can. The other men have received tonicsâ and lotions that Iâve infused with heal properties. You get it straight from me.â He went around the bed to sit opposite Martin.
He placed his right hand on the nape of Antiocâs neck, his little finger touching the first lash mark. âUsually it works best for me to place my hand directly on the wound. Yours are such that as long as Iâm touching one, theyâll all heal.â
âWhat would you like us to do,â Martin asked in a low murmur, not wanting to disturb him.
âDo you have a god you pray to?â Stakel wasnât sure about Launioc gods.
âThe Vanguard have always asked for guidance from Xasel, our High God. Heâs the father of the new gods and has fallen out of favor with our temples now.â Antioc informed Stakel. âThe men of the Vanguard know the miracles the High God preformed and weâll always worship him.â
âPray to Xasel then and hope heâll answer.â
Stakel closed his eyes, steadied his breathing and imagined the wounds marring Antiocâs back. He sank deep into Antiocâs body, finding the paths through which blood traveled. He knitted those together. With pulses of energy, he encouraged the growth of new muscle and mending of the sliced skin.
He didnât loosen his control on the healing until he was sure heâd found and treated every injury. When he felt the last one close, he opened his eyes and allowed the energy to slip away. Antiocâs back was marked with several faint pink lines. Stakel ran a finger over one and Antioc shivered.
âYour back will still be sore, but thatâll disappear over the next several days.â He stood up and his knees buckled.
Darius was there to lend support as he made his way to a low couch close to the bed. Stakel settled down with a sigh. Heâd need to rest soon.
A knock sounded and then Rathian came in. Martin and Darius saluted. Antioc struggled to sit up.
âStay still, sub-commander,â Rathian ordered.
Stakel met the princeâs gaze and saw more peace than pain in them. He gestured to the cushion beside him. âIâd show you some form of respect, but Iâm afraid Iâm too tired to do so.â
âToo tired?â Rathian joined him. âWhy? I see youâve healed Antioc. Were his wounds so bad you had to use all your energy?â
He knew that thought upset the prince. He patted Rathianâs hand. âNo. I made other medicines and sent them to the others. Any type of magic like that draws energy from me.â
âHereâs some wine and food, Sir.â Darius handed him a plate, setting his wine glass beside him. âWould you like something, your highness?â
Rathian shook his head and the page served the others. Stakel knew the prince hadnât eaten at all since theyâd missed breakfast. He broke off some crust from his bread and held it up to Rathian.
âYou have to eat. With us, you may show weakness, but in front of the others, you have to stay strong.â
Rathian nibbled on the bread in Stakelâs hands, using his tongue to clean the crumbs from Stakelâs fingers. A moan threatened to slip out. His cock filled as desire flooded him. He was thankful for clothes. Rathian winked and sat back.
âWho was supposed to inform me about the attack on Stakel?â The princeâs gaze swept between Martin and Antioc.
Both men dropped their eyes. An obvious reluctance stiffened their bodies.
âGeneral Excelsie, sir.â Antioc finally answered Rathianâs question.
The prince frowned, accepting another bite of food from Stakel.
âMaybe it slipped his mind,â Stakel suggested.
âMaybe, but Excelsie isnât know for forgetting things.â
âHe could have been on his way to tell you when you found out this morning.â
Why are you working so hard to erase the doubt from his mind?
Heâs hurt that his friend would undermine him in such a way. Stakel gave a mental shrug. I donât like it when he hurts.
One night together and already you want to ease his pain. Maybe you donât need my help after all.
âHe should have been waiting for me when I returned home last night.â Rathian shifted closer. âI stopped by my room before I came to find you. There wasnât even a note.â
âWe should have made sure someone was waiting for you.â Antioc scowled.
âNo. Your commander told you he would take care of it. You trusted him and he let you down.â Rathian rested his hand on Stakelâs thigh. âIâll deal with him. He seems to deserve more punishment than just a whipping.â
Stakel leaned over and curled into Rathianâs side. The warmth of the princeâs body combined with his deep voice lulled Stakel into a light doze.
Poetry Train….

Unicorn and King
It seems a foolish thing
To dream of unicorns and Kings.
To understand the voice of the clouds
As if they were talking out loud.
But what seems foolishness to some
Is ordinary life to one.
What dreams dance upon the air
Will allow only one to care.
Dare to hope that knowledge comes
With the rising of the sun.
Because with light, life might grow
Love might have a willingness to show.
Endlessly falling drops of rain,
Shower a heart with mists of pain.
Endlessly flowing icy breeze
Can cause a heart to freeze.
Mouth breaking into a welcoming smile
Can make up for that extra mile.
A being with a single horn
Can only be that faithful unicorn.
The King graces the palace of dreams,
While the unicorn sits and schemes.
What may seem foolish to some,
Is ordinary life for me.

Pimping Books…

Okay…it’s time to pimp Sean Michael’s books. All of them…lol. I can’t pick one that’s my favorite. I did see that the second book in his Guardian Angel chaser series is out, so I’ll have to be picking that one up soon. I can’t say enough about his Jarhead series. Hot men, lots of hot sex and great stories.
Stop by Sean Michael’s website. Check out all his wonderful books. (Of course, you all have probably read his stuff)
Oh and stop by Samhain today, Ally Blue’s short story, Catching A Buzz, is available now. Another book to add to my growing list of books to buy.
I’m almost halfway finished with Tony’s story. So there shouldn’t be a problem for me to finish it by the end of June…or maybe sooner. Got more written on The Vanguard as well. And started the sequel to Out ofBounds (which is the short story I submitted to Samhain) so no matter where it gets published by, there’ll be a second book for it. đ
Have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend.
What..Wednesday Again…

Release Date

Hey everyone, Three has gotten a release date….June 11th. Mark it down on your calender. It’s a hot anthology with Bonnie and Lisa joining me. đ I posted another excerpt today and I’m sure Bonnie and Lisa will be posting theirs sometime during the day, so stop by SiN and check them out.
I finished the short story I was working on. Sent it out to my cps and already heard back from one. Lila remarked about one of the last scenes and I agreed with her, so I’ll be working on fixing that today. Plus doing working on Vanguard and Home of his Own (Tony’s story)
Hope you all have a wonderful day. đ
Movie Review

I watched Pan’s Labyrinth the other night. I was told by people that this movie could change my life. I don’t know about that. I’ve seen very few movies in the last couple of years that have changed me in some fundamental way. (Brokeback Mountain being one of the few.)
But even though it didn’t change my life, PL was still a very good movie and deserved all of the accolades it received. The imagery was stunning along with the fantastic creatures Guillermo del Toro created to tell this story of a little girl’s search for the marvelous and beautiful in a world gone mad. There are two story lines going on during the movie and if you can’t handle violence and sadistic torture, don’t watch it. For the real world this little girl lives in would break the heart of a strong man.
Oh, Sherrill tagged me, so I have to give you eight more things you didn’t know about me. Hmm…it was hard enough coming up with the first eight. But here I go…
1. As you can tell, I love movies, but my absolute favorite kind are martial art movies. Jet Li is a god in my eyes….though my favorite movie of his is Unleashed (and not just because it has Morgan Freeman in it.)
2.I listen to all kinds of music: country, opera, rock, pop. One of my all-time favorite songs is Seven Spanish Angels sung by Ray Charles and Willie Nelson. Just the story that song tells of two doomed lovers touches my heart. There’s a story there and I’m going to write it someday (with my own little twist of course)
3. As if you didn’t already know, my favorite animals in the whole world are horses. All the different breeds and types. From ponies to draft horses. I love them for their strength, for their gentleness. I love them for their unconditional love and overwhelming willingness to trust. For their beauty and their heart.
4. I’m of the theory that God exists, but He started the evolution process long ago and then stepped back to see what we do with what He created. (I can’t think He’s very happy with what we’ve done) All the good and bad that happens to us in this life is because of us and not God. How can I thank Him for the good and not blame Him for the bad if He controls everything?
5. My favorite color is dark green. Not sure why except there’s a feeling of vibrant life and growth in that color.
6. Rainy days are my favorite days to stay home and write all day. Maybe it’s the sound of the rain falling outside my window while I’m sitting warm and dry that makes the words flow better. (As you can tell with these facts.)
7. My cats make me laugh.
8. I’ve written over 135,000 words so far this year and finished four stories. đ I’ve had two books released so far with one more coming out soon. (those are the ones that have been contracted.)
have a great Saturday, everyone.
Pimping Books…

I read this book earlier in the week…instead of doing my own writing. I really enjoy Slipping the Stream. Mike Shade does a great job bringing a cyperpunk feel to the story. If you liked the Matrix movies, you’ll like this book.
Mike Shade has a few other books that I’ve read and enjoyed. I tried to see if I could find a website for him, but I didn’t. If someone else might be able to find one, just post it in the comment section here. đ
I was supposed to do another eight things about me since Sherrill tagged me, but I don’t have time to do it today. I’ll post it tomorrow.
Hope you all have a great Friday.
