TGIF…

I’m so glad it’s Friday. Only eight more hours before it’s officially the weekend for me. I don’t have much planned for the weekend. Writing and hanging out. 🙂

We saw The Dark Knight last night. I have to say it was probably one of the first movies I’ve seen that actually lives up to all the hype. Heath Ledger was brilliant as The Joker. I feel sorry for whoever has to play the main bad guy in the next Batman movie. How do you follow up such an amazing performance? The weakest character, imo, was Rachel Dawes and it has nothing to do with the actress who played her. It was simply that Rachel didn’t really have much to do in the overall progression of the story plot.

Yet that didn’t take away from the fact that TDK was awesome. Dark, moody with a hero questioning whether he’s doing the right thing and a bad guy crazy enough not to care what he does or how many people he kills. (Another story/screenplay I wish I had written) 🙂

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

And next on the soap box…

The same can be said for a lot of female characterization in books. That is one reason I like m/m genre. Quite frequently I want to shake the girl in f/m and always seems to like the male stories better in m/m/f. It doesn’t matter if men or women write the female characters. Disappointing and I’m not saying that I can do it better, but …

The soap box is now ready for the next participant.

Unless they are a superhero themselves, women don’t usually fare well as characters in the often misgynistic realm of comic books. Especially at the hands of Marvel where even the female superheroes are silly (Sue Storm).
Hulk’s Betty Ross and Mary Jane from Spiderman are two of the most inane characters to ever grace film. And it had absolutely nothing to do with the actresses. It’s the material.

Rachel was unfortunately created in that style. You could have eliminated her altogether. The only non-superhero female in the comics I have read who has any decent characterization is Lois Lane.

And she finally steps off the soapbox.:)

Have a great weekend. Love the eye candy by the way.

    Hey TA

I’m going to see TDK again tomorrow but in IMAX. I can’t wait!

It really was awesome. I agree with you about Rachel but in additon I don’t think Maggie was a good choice for that role. She had no chemistry with Batman or anybody else for that matter. lol

    Have a great weekend!

Have a great weekend! I can’t wait to see the Dark Knight, but we might wait a couple weeks when it won’t be as crowded. 🙂
