Poetry Train…
Sum of my Parts…
Looking in the mirror,
I wonder at what I see.
A bright smile.
A nice body.
But I know that
I am more.
Inside my head
Burns a creative imagination.
Inside my chest
Beats a caring heart.
Somewhere inside of me
Lives a sensitive soul.
Like everyone else,
I am more.
I am more than
My name.
I am more than
My sex.
I am more than
Who I love.
I am more than
The sum of my parts.

Have you ever had a book of your poems published?
Your poems get me everytime TA. *sigh*
Thanks, Melissa.
You know, I went through and counted how many poems I’ve posted (including excerpts and excerpts from future books…lol) and this poem today was my 67th one. Wow.
I’m still trying to work out how to get it published, Melissa, but I’m hoping it’ll work out soon. 🙂
You’re right, Viv. We have to look at everything about a person, not just what they do for a living or what they look like. 🙂
An unerring sentiment coupled with exquisite words. I still can’t wait for a volume of your poetry.
Have a great Monday.
Beautiful poem, TA.
I need that thought this morning. End of August approaches with all the start up items of the the fall and all my ‘parts’ and hats are overwhelming me.
We need to not judge a person by the tasks they do either… the difference between the ‘I’ve got to do’ and the ‘I want to do’ lists can be very different sometimes.
Enjoy the day.
Thanks, Jambrea.
I was intrigued by the picture which is why I picked it. 🙂
It’s the whole saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”, isn’t it?
I love it TA. And that picture is VERY interesting.
I think more people should understand there is always more than what appears on the outside. 🙂
Have a great Monday.
