Poetry Train
Silence
Silence
A living cancer
Eating life
Destroying love
I walk through rooms
Filled with ghosts
Of love failed
And lives gone
My heart used to sing
To the words racing on the wind.
My blood used to race
To the melody of the leaves.
Now there’s only…
Silence
A living cancer
Eating life
Destroying love
No songs
My music gone
Empty is my world
Of the joy I once knew.
Stop by Rhian’s blog to see who else is on the train. 🙂

I couldn’t imagine a world without music
A world of pure silence
Will be a world without color!
Even if it is sad, I really like it, TA!
Sadder poems depict part of us. I too write sad poems most of the time.
On the contrary, my life is pretty smooth!
LOL!
Get well soon.
scientifically insane
Thanks, everyone.
I wish I could do happier poems, but so far I seem to be better at sad ones. Maybe I’ll try writing a happy one to see how it turns out.
I love coming to your blog TA. I’m always in awe of your talent-and often inspired.
Sad poem-beautifully done.
Very hauntingly beautiful, TA.
First, wow to the picture. Then, awed silence to your poem.
No songs
My music gone
Empty is my world
Of the joy I once knew.
(& why won’t it let me center??) That’s beautiful.
This is a powerful poem and an excellent way to begin a novel. Sometimes silence is beautiful and sometimes it’s the most horrible noise there is. What a spectacular way to begin your story.
I know it’s sad, Susan. There’s a point to the sadness. It’s the first poem/song in His Heart’s Home, the next book in the Home series. It’s the place where Derek is at the beginning of the book.
Silence can be beautiful and so empty, just as you said.
Aww, TA, this is really sad and empty. Beautiful, of course, but … I dunno. At times, there’s a beauty in silence. And at times… I have to go looking for the beauty before these truths you’ve described eat me alive…
