Pimping Books…

Stephanie Vaughan has several books out, some ‘het’ and some m/m. I haven’t read any of her ‘het’ ones, but I’ve enjoyed all of the m/m ones I’ve gotten. Off World is a great sci-fi/futuristic story.

Stop by Stephanie’s website to see what else she has out and coming.

Hmm…what else is there?

Oh, I’m focused on Tony’s story. Hopefully will get that done sooner rather than later. 🙂

Still no news about Out of Bounds or Understanding Forgiveness (the short story I wrote for an anthology going to Aspen Mountain Press) As soon as I hear anything about that, I’ll let you all know.

Hope you all have a great Friday.

Pimping Friday….

okay…I’m not really pimping any particular book. Though I did read two good ones this week. Haunted by Mike Shade and Living In Fast Forward by BA Tortuga.

But since Yvonne asked so nicely, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at Tony’s story. This will be sort of a double sneak peek because in this scene, you also get to meet Derek St. Martin, one of the heroes from His Heart’s Home. The man who has been writing all those songs you read on Mondays. 😉

To set the scene up, Tony is flying back to Wyoming from Hawaii where he’d been for two weeks, competing in a bull riding event. He’s enjoyed a great night of hot sex with a luscious big blond. (Very important to remember the blond) Tony’s just received a phone call from Randy, letting him know that his brother-in-law is at the ranch, waiting for him. (for those of you who’ve read No Going Home…remember Tony doesn’t have anything to do with his family.) So he’s not a happy camper. He’s getting ready to board the plane.

Tony heard his flight number called and grabbed his stuff. He boarded, put his bag away and sat. Shutting his eyes, he sighed. Maybe he and Mac should have done a little more sleeping and a little less fucking last night. He was glad he upgraded to first class. More room and drinks.

A nap would help settle his nerves. The memories only served to remind him anyone could hurt him, even those who should have loved him. Someone bumped his arm. Opening his eyes, he saw a tall lean man sitting next to him.

“Sorry about that. Jackass was in a hurry to get to his coach seat, I guess.”

The smooth southern drawl stirred something in Tony’s mind. He studied the man. A blue baseball cap and sunglasses hid the man’s eyes. His instinct told him he knew the man.

“Honey, when you get a chance, can you bring me a whiskey on the rocks and a beer for my friend here?” The man flagged down a flight attendant.

“Shit. You’re…”

“Yeah. Don’t say anything. I just want to survive this flight without someone asking for my autograph or a picture.” That famous smile flashed at him. “Though I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to take one. It’s not often such a handsome man recognizes me.”

Tony’s mouth dropped open. There was no way Derek St. Martin, country music superstar, was flirting with him.

“If I ask for a picture, wouldn’t it blow your cover?” He managed to say.

Derek thought for a moment, his thin lips pursed and then he nodded. “Fuck. Should have known something would spoil it.”

“Here you are, sir.” The flight attendant handed Derek two glasses. “Is there anything else I can get you?”

“No, sugar. This is just fine.” Derek waved her away with a casual gesture.

“Don’t you have your own jet?” Tony kept his voice low. He could respect the man’s wish for privacy.

“Sure I do, but sometimes I just want to get away from all that bull shit. The entourage. My agent. It all gives me a headache. On good days, I pop a couple of pills and let them take me away. Yet there are times when it all builds up and there’s nothing I can do, but run.” Derek leaned in close to Tony, so close he could see the man’s electric blue eyes peering over the top of the sunglasses. “What do you do for a living? You look like a cowboy.”

“I ride bulls.”

“Mmm…if only that were true, it’d prove there is a benevolent God and he loves country singers.”

Tony looked around him. None of the passengers seemed to be paying attention to them. He moved closer to Derek. “I like bulls better than cows, but since I’ve never heard even a whisper about you, you might want to be careful what you say in public.”

A look passed over Derek’s face and Tony wondered if the singer hated hiding who he was because of his fans. “I know. I’ve been yelled at by everyone around me. If I promise not to out myself to anyone else, will you talk to me about what you do? Treat me like a real person. Not the stud you see dancing on stage in tight jeans and a t-shirt.”

Tony touched Derek’s hand holding on to the armrest between them. “I’d talk to you all day.” He pressed his lips to the man’s ear. “I’ve had a hard-on since I first heard you talk.”

Derek’s eyes widened and he shot a look at Tony’s crotch. “Man, what I wouldn’t do to have a private plane right about now.”

Tony winked, settling back in his seat. “I do ride bulls. I was in Honolulu for the special all-star event.”

“Wow. A gay cowboy? So those stereotypes really do exist.” Derek laughed. “Are you any good?”

“I finished fifth at the Finals this year.” Tony sipped his beer. “Where are you headed?”

“Got a fucking concert in Dallas.” Derek drained his drink and waved for the attendant to get him another one. “I got a two week vacation and then it’s back to work. Not even time off for Thanksgiving. It sucks. I planned on going to Edmund’s house for the holiday, but nope. Have to go entertain the masses.”

“Man, if you don’t like what you’re doing, why are you doing this?” Tony loved riding bulls. He’d already made up his mind that the day he didn’t enjoy it, he’d retire.

“I love to sing. Performing is an unhappy side effect of singing. To be honest, I wouldn’t be so tired of performing if I didn’t have to deal with all the other bullshit.” Derek shrugged. The singer shifted and faced him. “So where are you from? It sounds like Texas to me.”

“I’m originally from Texas. I live in Wyoming now.” He realized they had talked through take-off and the plane had reached cruising altitude.

Their flight attendant brought them another drink and they kept talking.

Stepping off the plane, Tony noticed a group of people with disapproving frowns on their faces. Derek squeezed his shoulder.

“Where the hell have you been?” An older man walked up to them, glaring at Tony while gripping Derek’s arm.

“I took a different flight.” Derek shook off the man’s hand and turned to face Tony. “Thanks for making it an interesting ride. I’ll be watching for you when your circuit starts up again.”

Tony ignored the man who must have been Derek’s manager and hugged the singer. “I hope you find some happiness somewhere,” he whispered in the man’s ear.

Derek pulled his sunglasses down so his blue eyes met Tony’s. “Someday I will. It just depends on how much more shit I can take. Thanks.”

Tony didn’t say anything as Derek kissed his cheek.

Hope you enjoyed a sneak peek. maybe I’ll post another one this weekend. Give you a glimpse at Tony’s hero, Brody MacCafferty.

Have a great Friday.

Pimping books….

Today, I’m pimping books by B.A. Tortuga. I love her books, especially the ones about cowboys. She has a special touch with those rugged myths. This book, Old Town New, is one of my favorites by her. Stop by Torquere Press and check it out. It’s available in ebook and print form.

Also, Amanda Young has a new book out at Loose-Id titled Man Candy. I haven’t read it yet, but I’ll be picking it up to enjoy over the weekend. It looks good.

Did some work on Tony’s story. Getting closer to the end. So the deadline of the end of the month is more realistic now. Though it might take until the middle of July for it to be ready to submit. 🙂

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Pimping Books….

I’m pimping Laura Baumbach’s books today. I’ve enjoyed all of them that I’ve read. Especially Details of the Hunt. She’s got a bunch of books out along with writing screenplays, coordinating the ManLoveRomance author co-op and starting her own Man Love Press (yep..print books) Tell you what, I’m tired just thinking about what she’s doing.

Stop by and see what else she has going. 🙂

Been working on several different stories at the moment. They’re all coming along, so things look good.

I hope to get a chance to watch The Belmont today. The girl is getting a chance to beat the boys today. Rags to Riches has her work cut out for her. Only two fillies have won The Belmont since it was first run.

Have a great day, everyone.

Pimping Books…

Okay…it’s time to pimp Sean Michael’s books. All of them…lol. I can’t pick one that’s my favorite. I did see that the second book in his Guardian Angel chaser series is out, so I’ll have to be picking that one up soon. I can’t say enough about his Jarhead series. Hot men, lots of hot sex and great stories.

Stop by Sean Michael’s website. Check out all his wonderful books. (Of course, you all have probably read his stuff)

Oh and stop by Samhain today, Ally Blue’s short story, Catching A Buzz, is available now. Another book to add to my growing list of books to buy.

I’m almost halfway finished with Tony’s story. So there shouldn’t be a problem for me to finish it by the end of June…or maybe sooner. Got more written on The Vanguard as well. And started the sequel to Out ofBounds (which is the short story I submitted to Samhain) so no matter where it gets published by, there’ll be a second book for it. 🙂

Have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend.

What..Wednesday Again…

Finished Out of Bounds and submitted it. Keep your fingers crossed that they want it. New publisher, so we’ll have to see. At least, I’ll know by June 10th whether they want it or not. If not, I’ll just add a little more to it and sub it to LSB. 🙂
Now I can focus all of my attention on Tony’s story. Well, almost all of it. I have to take breaks to work on the installments for The Vanguard, but Tony takes priority over all my other stories right now. His story needs to be finished. I’m giving myself to the end of June to finish it. Hope it works.
I finished reading Wiccan Man: Tongue Tied by Emily Veinglory the other night. It was really good. Just like all of Emily’s books.
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday. Hurray for a short work week.

Pimping Books…

I read this book earlier in the week…instead of doing my own writing. I really enjoy Slipping the Stream. Mike Shade does a great job bringing a cyperpunk feel to the story. If you liked the Matrix movies, you’ll like this book.

Mike Shade has a few other books that I’ve read and enjoyed. I tried to see if I could find a website for him, but I didn’t. If someone else might be able to find one, just post it in the comment section here. 🙂

I was supposed to do another eight things about me since Sherrill tagged me, but I don’t have time to do it today. I’ll post it tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great Friday.

Pimping Books…

Today’s book is Thirty Days by Shayla Kersten from LSB. If you like BDSM, this is a good one with lots of angst as well. 🙂 Though it’s not as immersed into the lifestyle as some I have read, but you still get the feel of it.

I haven’t read Shayla’s other m/m book from Ellora’s Cave, but I’m sure it’s just as good as this one. She also has some m/f stories coming out. If you visit her website, you’ll find out about every thing she has coming out.

Also, even though Paige has gotten her website back, I’m not sure if she’s had time to fix it or post her meme. Being the wonderful friend I am, I’m letting her post it on my blog. So here you go…8 things to know about Paige.

1. I don’t match my panties and bra. Or if I do, it’s by accident.
2. I HATE making cold calls. If I have to call a store to find out their location or what time they close I totally freeze.
3. If my husband asked, I would participate in a threesome.
4. Despite all apperances, I am NOT an orgainzed person. 🙂
5. My dream is to write Young Adult books.
6. I play video games, and I like it. Yes, I even have my own XBOX gamertag.
7. I love rollercoasters.
8. Muscles do it for me. Bad.

Hmm….what else to talk about? Oh the Wings lost last night, so it’s back to Detroit for another game. I’m getting the feeling it’s going to come down to a game seven. Oh well, more hockey to watch then. I finished the second set of edits on Two for One. That means we’re that much closer to a release date for Three. 🙂

Hope you all have a good Friday.

Pimping Books….

Today, we’re pimping Kiernan Kelly’s books. Riding Heartbreak Road is the first of Kiernan’s books I’ve read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Who wouldn’t? Cowboys and hot man love. Yum. It’s available in paperback as well. 🙂

Kiernan has several other books out, so I suggest stopping by Kiernan’s site to check out the other ones. I’ve enjoyed all of them so far. Definitely on my auto-buy list.

And stop by Elisa’s blog. You can vote for me as the Best Blog Author for 2006. Click here to head over there. (You might have to scroll down a little)

Okay because both Rhian and Shayla memed me, I’ll be posting eight more things about me that no one knows…except those closest to me. (I know since I got tagged by two people I should do sixteen, but I can’t think of sixteen

1. I love William Shanter-not because I’m a Trekkie fan or anything, but because he’s confident enough that he can make fun of himself and because he love horses. (no one who loves horses can be all bad.)

2. I’m fascinated by sharks and snakes. So primeval. They could teach us a lesson on survival-if we’d just listen and watch them instead of killing them.

3. My idea of camping or roughing it, is a hotel without room service. 🙂

4. I lust after men with tattoos. Must be the bad boy in me or the urge to have a bad boy of my own.

5. My favorite spot on a man is the soft skin right at the hip. 😉

6. Before I die (which I’m planning will be a long time from now) I want to take a horseback riding trip around Ireland. I’ve always wanted to see Ireland and what better way to see it than on the back of a horse.

7. Like Jude Law’s character in The Holiday, I’m easily brought to tears. Usually if there’s an animal involved somehow.

8. Finally the last one, I believe in reincarnation and that we really do have soulmates in the world.

I’m tagging Lila Dubois (who doesn’t have a blog, but I’m willing to let her take over mine.) and Pagie Burns (who’s website/blog is down at the moment, so she’ll be using mine as well). I know I’m not playing this right because I’m only tagging those two, but at the moment, I can’t think of six other people…lol.

Here are the rules according to whomever likes to makeup rules:
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Pimping Books…

Ugh! I can’t get a bigger version of this cover, so unfortunately we’re stuck with this one.

I actually just got done reading Drew Zachary’s newest book, Jericho Jones: The Adventure Begins. But Transforming Hades is one that I’ve re-read several times. It’s a futuristic/sci-fi story and rather well written, imo. 🙂 Drew writes well in any genre he tries.

Writing is going well. I’m getting a bunch done on The Vanguard, but also I’m working on a story to submit to Samhain for their 2008 m/m Valentine’s Day anthology. Keep your fingers crossed that I finish it in time for the deadline and then that they like it. It’s about a pro basketball player and the nightclub owner he falls in love with.

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday.
